Alex Fees: I’m Alex Fees on Small Business Television. we’re coming to you from Cleveland, Ohio a COSE 2008. There are Small Business Conference, COSE that’s the Council of Smaller Enterprises and joining me here now is Sandy Payer. Sandy good to meet you.
Sandy Payer: Hi! Nice to meet you.
Alex Fees: I appreciate you being here. Sandy’s company is called SENDOUTCARDS at the 7 Hills, Ohio right Sandy?
Sandy Payer: Yes, that’s correct.
Alex Fees: Sandy what is SENDOUTCARDS?
Sandy Payer: Well that’s a service that we offer businesses as well as individuals who have a need or desire to spend more time contacting on a regular basis with their clients and also to develop new clients through referral system. It’s a fun service for people to use for home use to send out birthday cards and just cards that when you get up prompting that maybe somebody needs to here from you because they’re having a sad or bad day.
Alex Fees: Yeah.
Sandy Payer: You send them a card that they get in the mail. And you’ve made their day a little better and maybe you’ve made a difference.
Alex Fees: So, you characterize this as greeting cards essentially?
Sandy Payer: They are basically greeting cards and the need thing about it is you will create the card on the web, it will be sent by us printed, stamps and stuff in a real envelope with the real stamp and send to your client in your handwriting with your signature.
Alex Fees: Well Sandy I’m going to tell you stamp me here. I’ve never heard of anything like this before. Where did this come from?
Sandy Payer: Actually we’re base at the South Lake City, Utah and it’s an opportunity that came to me because I had a desire to keep in touch with clients and another home base business that I have. And it was just so time consuming that wasn’t able to keep up with my goal. I buy birthday cards put them on my desk, covering them with the book and then a week later go out and buy belated birthday cards. So, it wasn’t working and this way I can time them, you can send 5 to 5000 cards, let say greeting cards, holiday cards in five seconds, once you have your contact manager imported and it makes life easier and happier and you can touch more lives.
Alex Fees: Well, what impact do you find this has Sandy from a business perspective?
Sandy Payer: Well, first of all, I think the biggest think that people tell me when I’ve meet them and I usually asks for their birthday which immediately gets their attention because nobody wants to tell you what year they were born in and I said I need your year.
Alex Fees: Mountain day huh!
Sandy Payer: I just, want to send you a birthday card and wow. People in business are use to being pitched.
Alex Fees: Right, they’re used to being solicited.
Sandy Payer: Solicited and beg for business and when I need someone I simply say, you know it was really nice meeting you. I enjoyed hearing about your business maybe we can get together for a cup of coffee at another time and I might not even mention my business at that time. I might just thank them for being courteous or informative or whatever I feel because I follow the prompting.
Alex Fees: So, Sandy for talking from 5 to 5000 cards is that right? How do you go about this making it in, in my handwriting to my clients?
Sandy Payer: When you buy our service and become a member, you fill out a form that actually gets your handwriting and your signatures sent to our company where they prepare and create your handwriting font. And it becomes part of your license to use our service.
Alex Fees: Wow.
Sandy Payer: So, it’s pretty unique.
Alex Fees: How much we talking about here Sandy? How much is this going to cost me if want to send 200 cards for instance.
Sandy Payer: A card normally costs 62 cents plus 42 cents posters, so it’s a $1.04, compared to driving to the local card shop, spending anywhere from the average of $2 to $4 per card and then coming home and finding out you didn’t have stamp and now you’ve got to stamp it and it’s going to be late, so you have to run it to the post office, so big savings.
Alex Fees: You don’t have all those cards that you talk about stack up on your desk with the best of wishes and nothing comes with it.
Sandy Payer: Right.
sSandy Payer: And we have over 13,000 cards for you to choose from.
Alex Fees: Really?
Sandy Payer: Right.
Alex Fees: With 13,000 different wishes if you will?
Sandy Payer: Pictures.
Alex Fees: Style.
Sandy Payer: And wishes.
Alex Fees: I see.
Sandy Payer: And if you go to the average card shop they tell me they could stock about 15,000 cards.
Alex Fees: Wow! And you’ve got 13,000?
Sandy Payer: 13,000, yeah.
Alex Fees: Alright Sandy where can people to get more information about SENDOUTCARDS?
Sandy Payer: They can contact me at (216)-524-7178, leave a message if I am not there at the moment or if I’m online helping a costumer and I’ll get back to them.
Alex Fees: And I feel like you will get back to them.
Sandy Payer: I will, because I send out cards.
Alex Fees: That’s what you do.
Sandy Payer: If you leave me a message, leave me your name, address and phone number and your birthday. So, I can assure to send you a card.
Alex Fees: Was anyone here at COSE here in Cleveland our Small Business Conference on, what about that? What about your participation in COSE?
Sandy Payer: Well, I was introduced to COSE a couple of years ago with another business I have. I didn’t think it was really appropriate for what I was doing because I was basically targeting individuals with homes needs. This time I have something I think it’s a real service for businesses. People who don’t want a higher that next to employ and by way we can also send gifts as part of a card, you can send brownies, a Starbucks cards, a card from Home Depot or send the kids birthday gifts or a baby gift. And so, I wanted to target the business community, I took another look at COSE and join. I am fairly new member I actually joined Ithink the beginning of September.
Alex Fees: Really.
Sandy Payer: So, it’s my first big event.
Alex Fees: Oh yeah!
Sandy Payer: I am really excited to see the caliber and the integrity of the people that are associated with COSE.
Alex Fees: Well, we’re just down the first morning here so, that’s probably too early to know what kind and impact this is going to have. What are your hoping to get out of this conference week?
Sandy Payer: Just a names, addresses, phone numbers and birthdays, so I could send someone a card that maybe nobody has sent him a card, maybe all they given the mail or bills and campaign another cheer right now.
Alex Fees: Yeah.
Sandy Payer: And so a make it a real greeting card that’s handwritten with there name and address. Maybe they’ll open it and just have nicer day.
Alex Fees: Alright, Sandy thank you very much.
Sandy Payer: Thank you for having me.
Alex Fees: Good to meet you, she is Sandy Payer with SENDOUTCARDS. I’m Alex Fees on Small Business Television we’re coming to you from COSE 2008, COSE that’s the Council on Smaller Enterprises, small only by name.
