Ivy Hartman: Welcome to another spotlight interview here at the NAWBO 2007 conference and many of you maybe familiar with the Entrepreneur’s Source. Mary Currey is the Entrepreneur’s Source. Mary, you have a really fun job, getting them, match people with their perfect franchise mate.
Mary Currey: I do. That’s very good. I like it. It’s just a real pleasure. It lets me get an opportunity to meet people from all over the world and find out what they are really looking to do with their next stages in life.
Ivy Hartman: They must be excited. They are giving away all kinds of things there and Entrepreneur’s Source in case you don’t know, provides your client with information about franchising that they might be able to purchase or what would they get as far as what their interest are and things like that.
Mary Currey: That would a good bet. We find out from people what their goals are and their needs and expectations are in the next career stage of their life and match up business models that go with those kinds of goals and needs and expectations. So it’s a real nice interview process and it’s a discovery process we use to help them find what they are looking for at the next stage in their life.
Ivy Hartman: Okay, can you give me any insight, is there anything that’s really, really selling a lot for a franchiser to go any type of business at a time.
Mary Currey: Well, there are trends that go in franchiser and something like that, boomers, career changing and finding many places in the economy, the businesses that deal with boomers and the senior population and the aging population are very much on the growth trend. A lot of businesses and franchising deal with children’s programs and the education of children so those are some of the trends that are going on.
Ivy Hartman: That’s interesting. We did interview somebody who is in that business as a franchisee of young biz.
Mary Currey: Yes. They’re here.
Ivy Hartman: Uh-huh.
Mary Currey: Yeah.
Ivy Hartman: And you actually are a senior member and a leader within your NAWBO group in Sacramento, California area.
Mary Currey: Yes.
Ivy Hartman: So what’s about your role with NAWBO in Sacramento?
Mary Currey: I met the Vice President for education for the chapter and in that we do a lot of education, leadership training and that’s what NAWBO is about, a great deal of, business owners across many industries but its leadership and professional training for them. We have an education seminar coming up in February 2008.
Ivy Hartman: And what are we going, what’s going to be featured in February?
Mary Currey: Well, we’ll have a track for younger business owners that are one to two years old and then the ones that gone three to five years or five years plus, we’ve got a track for them for how to take your businesses to the next level.
Ivy Hartman: How exciting! Now what are you planning to take with you or anything you’ve experienced that far at the conference.
Mary Currey: I’m planning on taking a real feeling of confidence and so that I’m not in the business all by myself and that all of the challenges of other business owners, young business owners are, we’ve got a real commonality, strong sisterhood on helping each other.
Ivy Hartman: Oh, imagine, the next one opportunity for you to network of an Entrepreneur Source.
Mary Currey: Right.
Ivy Hartman: Owner and you know that you could find people who help people and we are not behind.
Mary Currey: Yes. And what means being the National Conference and women from all over the states and the world, they are here from China and India and Kenya. It’s really eye opening and very gratifying.
Ivy Hartman: Thank you so much for joining us and keep it right here for more coverage of the NAWBO 2007 Conference right here on SBTV.com where small business is our only business.
