Alex Fees: I’m Alex Fees on Small Business Television. We are coming to you from Cleveland at the COSE 2008 Small Business Conference. COSE that is the Council of Smaller Enterprises and joining me here now is Tim Reynolds. Tim good to meet you Sir.
Tim Reynolds: My pleasure to meet you.
Alex Fees: Tim is a COSE Board Chair and owner operator and Chief dishwasher at Tribute Software Incorporated, right?
Tim Reynolds: That’s right, that’s right.
Alex Fees: Well Tim talk about you role in COSE first. What are the issues facing this organization this year?
Tim Reynolds: Well we represent small business and this is an election year and so our advocacy efforts have been trying to in high gear. Not particularly in candidates we’re very much non-partisan. What we do is we make sure that the various candidates understand the impact of their proposals on small business and many way service or resource to them as well.
Alex Fees: Yeah.
Tim Reynolds: That’s a shaped policy. So that’s big on our agenda this year, but of course we are very actively involve in providing health care insurance to our members and as this meeting is an example. We spend a lot of time and effort in bringing on membership together to help them learn from each other and create opportunities for each other.
Alex Fees: That issue of the needs of small business certainly on the front burner or after the $700 billion Wall Street bail out recently.
Tim Reynolds: Absolutely.
Alex Fees: How does small business organizations go about making sure their membership is represented in cases like that?
Tim Reynolds: Well, we’re very active in our advocacy efforts in Washington, our concerns with the bail out or rescue plan or however you wan to call it, really come down to the access to capital for small businesses.
Alex Fees: Right.
Tim Reynolds: And what is concerning to us now is that as banks are very being timid. Often a small business person is using a line of credit, may get to the top of that line and is going to struggle to get that expanded, at times she worry about banks pulling back on their lines of credit. And so, it’s a very serious situation and the liquidity that they’re worried about is not just between banks, that’s making sure the banks do their part and keeping the wheels of commerce movement.
Alex Fees: And also between banks and their costumers.
Tim Reynolds: That absolutely right.
Alex Fees: Well Tim you’re here obviously at the administrator here at COSE Small Business Conference, what about Tribute Inc Software?
Tim Reynolds: Well, at Tribute what we do is we develop and market our software which is those inventory management and financial statements and sales management to industrial distribution companies. So, what we call it distribution management software from their perspective our costumers had a great year last year and at least so far that a pretty good year this year. A lot of that is a result of the export markets to be frank. My costumer’s costumer who are manufacturers have done remarkably well for the last couple of years and as a result, from my business point view that they need good software and we’ve had a pretty good year also. Again, what’s concerning us is generally my costumers will finance their purchase of computer hardware and software. The bank or with leasing company and that’s gotten more different.
Alex Fees: Everything coming back full circle then.
Tim Reynolds: Absolutely.
Alex Fees: Alright, good deal. He is Tim Reynolds. He is the COSE Board Chair also Tim what’s your position with Tribute Software?
Tim Reynolds: I’m President of Tribute Software.
Alex Fees: You’re the President, you’re the top dog.
Tim Reynolds: Yeah!
Alex Fees: Alright sir, thank you very much.
Tim Reynolds: Thank you very much, appreciate that.
Alex Fees: Good to meet you. I’m Alex Fees on Small Business Television at COSE 2008, the Council of Smaller Enterprises, small only in name.
