I own a public relations and marketing firm and spaced out in the central California Area. We specialize in social marketing, public relations, and media relations. We do a little bit of work for private entities but we also specialize in working with a lot of non-profits, government agencies, in how we can best reach the Hispanic consumer. We’ve had clients in Florida and Texas, so we tend to get out of California a little bit. We see that there’s more and more of an opportunity to be able to help other companies who want to effectively and strategically reach more Hispanic consumers or a Hispanic audience.
When I got the phone call from Joy, from Wells Fargo Bank to tell me that I was selected as the 2008 Trailblazer winner for Wells Fargo and Novo, I was elated. It was just an absolutely incredible feeling. The affirmation that I’m not only operating a successful business but that others throughout this country also see that my work mean so much to other entities and that I’m really doing that’s good that not only serves a common good for the community but serves the common good in general. It was for me the best affirmation that—I’m doing exactly what I should be doing at this point of my life.
The five thousand dollars that I just received is going to go to so many things. First and foremost, it’s going to go back to the community. That’s was one of the things that I’ve said if I won the award. It’s going to continue to support the efforts that I have in fighting gangs, and addressing elder in cancer, and addressing the methamphetamine issue that we have in the Central Valley. So again, that money will be well put and well-spent, again addressing some of the advocacy issues.
Imagine this evolving and is growing and I would say within the next five years, not only will we have another office in San Francisco, but we could potentially have another office in Los Angeles. I’d like to make sure that we have at least two major cities in California that are well-established and that we’ll also be doing more work across the country.
