Alex Fees: I’m Alex Fees for Small Business Television SBTV.com. We are on location in Baltimore at the 2009 Pet Industry Spring Trade Show. It is brought to you by H.H. Backer Associates, publishers of Pet Age Magazine.
Alex Fees: Nathan, tell me about Wigzi. That is the name of you company, is that also the name of your product?
Nathan Chefetz: Name of the product is wigzi. We have two products right now, it is the classic and the cosmo, a ball in a stick.
Alex Fees: A ball in a stick. Is it something like a fetch toy is that right?
Nathan Chefetz: So, actually it’s a very—it’s a fetch toy and you’re probably thinking yourself, okay I see a ball, I see a stick, why wigzi? What is great about it? So, essentially this is actually a patent pending material the dogs are crazy for and it is made in Italy and has a lot of inherent benefits of all the other toys. And the main brand is actually free of chemical, odor, and taste. So, they love it for the fact that it has no odor and no taste unlike the other heavy rubber small toys that you have put a lot of peanut butter or other meat unto to override that chemical taste.
Alex Fees: Okay, hang on. You might be getting ahead of me. Free of odor, free of odor and taste and yet dogs are crazy for it.
Nathan Chefetz: They go crazy for it.
Alex Fees: Why?
Nathan Chefetz: Just that alone and it is lightweight and the texture of the material. We have our—explained ourselves but you put this next to a rubber toy, and they go crazy so.
Alex Fees: They will pick yours over the one.
Nathan Chefetz: Absolutely.
Alex Fees: So, what is the deal? I mean, how did this come about?
Nathan Chefetz: Actually the invention is a discovery and we went ahead and decide to make some modifications to it and mass produce it and it is a trade secret but maybe we will reveal that in a few years and people will be quite surprised when they hear what it actually is.
Alex Fees: Oh really?
Nathan Chefetz: Yeah.
Alex Fees: Okay so it is not something you got to smear peanut butter on, anything like that.
Nathan Chefetz: It is actually a true fetch toy. Dogs actually play with it because of, what it is. You do not have to put peanut butter or other meat on it to have it be desirable. You can just throw it, it bounces and it will float. I am actually capturing the green aspect of this as well. It is actually a recyclable toy and #7 plastics and our packaging is made of all recyclable paper.
Alex Fees: So, it is green as well?
Nathan Chefetz: Green as well.
Alex Fees: All right, let us see here, what are we missing Nathan?
Nathan Chefetz: And we spend a little bit of extra, we spent a little bit of extra time and money producing this way in Italy with very high quality control standards unlike China, you know, it’s really been tough for China. They are a great country and a great industry but, you know, we do really wanted to move this toy quickly so we spent some extra bucks and produce in Italy.
Alex Fees: So Nathan, where is wigzi available?
Nathan Chefetz: Wigzi is available, you can check online at wigzi.com
