Amy Poehler: Welcome and thank you for joining us, this just in, this episode is going to be fantastic. And as always on our show, we celebrate extraordinary individuals by being themselves. With me today is Yogini inventor, Philosopher, Humanitarian, Gravity Deifier and chocolate lover, nine-year-old Anna Litton. How are you Anna? Anna Litton: Good! Amy Poehler: Thanks for being here. What grade are you in? Anna Poehler: Third Amy Poehler: What do you like about 3rd grade? Anna Litton: It’s not really too hard but it’s not too easy. Amy Poehler: You’re a girl who likes balance in your life am I right? What's a nice way that you even your self out? Anna Litton: Yoga! Amy Poehler: Tell everybody what yoga is. Anna Litton: Yoga is a stretching, breathing and stuff that helps you relax. Amy Poehler: Keeps you even. Well were going to be learning about different ways you relaxing and different that we can relax today. And on our show as always, I’m joined by my best friends the producer Meredith Walker. Meredith Walker: Cut to me! Amy Poehler: And are musical director Amy Miles. What qualities make a good teacher for you? Anna Litton: They describe things well so that you can really do them easily and they’re too strict but they’re not like just do whatever you want. Amy Poehler: Once again, right in the middle you like it nice and even, I respect that. And what do say to people that say I'm just not flexible enough I can't do it, I've tried and I can't do it. What will you say to those people? Anna Litton: Try your best and try harder. Amy Poehler: Nice! Say that again I'm going to make that into a T-shirt. Anna Litton: Try your best and try harder. Amy Poehler: And I was nice enough to show us a couple of poses. Let's talk a little bit about some of the poses we did Anna Litton: Half lotus you sort of a citrus cross except with one leg though. I think that’s called pigeon because he folded like leg is like a wing. Tree pose is a balance pose sometimes you need something to hold onto. Amy Poehler: Like a tree? Anna Litton: I think its called warrior because you sort of in the position of a warrior and you’re stringing a bow. Child’s pose is you sort of crawl up in a bowl you sit on your heels and you just tack your head in and put your arms behind. When something s troubling me I usually do Lion pose. Amy Poehler: You have to be not afraid to make a funny face. Anna Litton: Yeah! Amy Poehler: Let's make all our funniest face, you ready? Meredith Walker: Okay, I just saw you open your mouth. Amy Poehler: That did bring good humor. It did bring good humor. Amy Poehler: This show is a lot to do about girls’s kind of being themselves. What advice would you give to girls? Anna Litton: Don’t really think about like what you have to do for people to like you or to have more friends. You probably want people to like you for who you are. Amy Poehler: And when it gets hard for you? What do you like to do? Anna Litton: Try not to sort of blank my mind and relax for a while. Amy Poehler: Meditate and Anna showed us how to meditate recently. Anna Litton: And you relax, you breathe slowly and you try to blank your mind. Amy Poehler: I think we maybe should chant for a little bit before we end and Amy you press chant music. Meredith Walker: I don’t even know if that’s chanting that’s singing. Amy Poehler: That’s singing, okay. Amy Miles: There's a difference. Amy Poehler: So how do you do it? Anna alone! Meredith Walker: Amy alone, you’re singing! Amy Poehler: I'm singing again. Anna we always save our most serious question for last. You have to pick one rainbows or butterflies? Anna Litton: Butterflies! Amy Miles: Rainbows! Meredith Walker: Rainbows! Amy Poehler: We need to keep things even for Anna, so I want to say butterflies.
