Smoker's Rights in the Workplace

Last I heard 30 of 50 states have smoker's rights that even extend to jobs. No, smokers may not have more break time than other employees... as defined as a disability (and it really is in many respects) One cannot be denied or fired from a job due to the fact one is a smoker. Insurance companies that could and would in the past deny coverage to smokers no longer have legal grounds to do so if they ever did. Cigarette smoking is a legal pastime, and it's taxes are in deed carrying their weight. In Anchorage Alaska for instance, with a $1.30 Cigarette Tax (per pack). The city budget wouldn't be able to float without these "sin" taxes levied. Anchorage is not alone there. So considering how much is being earned on this "sin tax", Anchorage and other cities can EXPECT to have to bend on their anti-smoking campaigns. Employers must come to terms that they really can't dictate their employees health choices, if employees are within legal boundaries.

Dear WTF - just wait till they take away something you like next. Then you will change your attitude real quick and moan like a baby and cry unfair. What this whole anti-smoking campaign has done, is let people like you legally, and out in the open, be a "racist" and a hate monger. Something that you most likely were a closet case to begin with. I would even venture to imagine that if it was only smokers put into concentration camps and gassed back in the old Germany, you would have been dancing with joy and wanting to go sign up to be one of the guards at the camps - because it is FASHIONABLE to be a smoker hater. Yep, you are a real human being alright.
