Solar Power for your Garden
Female: Now energy is expensive but the sun, it’s free. Jeanette Pavini is here with some ideas on using solar energy in your yard. It’s all in today’s Better Ways to Save.
Jeanette Pavini: While installing solar power inside your house can be an expensive proposition. It’s not expensive to use solar power outside the house. Solar lights run on batteries that are charged by the sun. They’re great for walkways, garden paths, or lamp post, and the fixture is cost about the same as conventional lighting. The bonus, they don’t cost anything to run once you install them.
When choosing solar lights, do some research on how long the battery cells last. Some will actually last up to 20 years. Fountains can be powered by solar pumps. There’s a large variety of fountains from simple bubblers to long cascading waterfalls that can all be powered for free with solar energy.
Now they are even Patio Umbrellas with solar lights built-in. and as the heat from the sun can save you money outdoors, it can also cause you to turn up that air-conditioner. So consider planting shading trees to keep your house cool.
