This is the 6th replacement of K800 called the K810 cyber shot phone from Sony Ericsson. And you are watching it’s a view review made by Phonearena.com mobile phone specifications, previews, news.
The K810 is a camera phone. Looking at its back and you immediately notice the cyber shot branding, the active lens cover with the out of focus three mega pixel lens under it and the real zoom in flash which held the K810 being one of the best camera phones on the market. Press the shutter key and you have a photo taken but more on that later.
On the front you see how the K810 has change. The new model has much sexier look which more of circular keys with brushed finish and dark blue glossy surface which unfortunately gets dirty easy. The redesign leads to more comfortable numeric keys but the software and shortcut keys have poorest response due to the smaller size.
On it's size we se almost the same phone as the K800 we all know very well. On the left is the play/pause button and the memory slot while on the right is the tiny volume rocker and the shortcut key, now redesigned to match the numeric keypad shape. The bottom has the combine connector and the top is the power key.
What is in the improvement is that the phone is now quarterly in smaller due to the redesign lens cover and it makes it fit easily in the pocket. As software the K810 is almost absolutely identical to its elder brother. You will need the goops old Sony Ericsson interface with great main menu so lacking the color flash themes we saw in local series.
The phonebook is too nearly perfect and nothing has changed with the organizer but that’s the job, but it’s rather plain. You will meet the music player and also the K800 search your music by artist and album and play it to the phone speaker or to the provided stereo headset which has mediocre quality by the way. Unfortunately, a standard stereo jack is still not provided and you have to either so surround adapter or use the area Bluetooth headphone.
The video player is also the same it cannot open high quality H to 64 video just the older H to 63. The camera starts for about three to four seconds after you will open the lens cover from the home screen or have hit its icon in the menu. The new coat in here is that the left cam of numeric keys is backlit icons showing there are function in the camera mode, as there are shortcuts. If you need more shortcuts you can use the ones above the display or if they are not enough open the settings the menu to choose even more settings.
The phone shoots and saves pretty fast and you are ready to take the next picture in just six seconds. Although the camera quality should be absolutely identical or superior compared to the K800 which has the same hardware. The K810 shows it’s actual a down grade. We compared the two camera phones and the K800 outdoor images have less contrast and less saturated colors.
Indoor they are darker with more noise. We hope that future software update will fix that. The K810 includes of new things like the photo fix and the track ID application but otherwise it's almost 100% at K800 in new calls which are more fashionable and stylist.
It improves the sound quality and it’s always excellent phone during a call but it has made the call barring here. The K810 tri bit on the GSM which makes it usable only in some parts of US. The single bent 3G UMG is means you cannot use it the high speed data in America as well.
If you're looking for fashionable camera phone this one maybe the deal for you. But if you already have the K800, we see no reason for upgrading. On the other hand, if you want a multimedia device we would recommend your all in one Nokia N95 which has even better camera than K810.
