In the next few minutes you’ll be watching kind of preview of the most thrilling Sony Ericsson cell phone, the Satio. That was initially announced as the Idou. It is Sony Ericsson’s first in the several respects. It is the company’s first device featuring the 12 megapixel camera and the first to run Symbian S60 operating system and the first all in one gadget. Through the 3.5 inch touch-sensitive screen that delivers the resolution of 360x640 pixels and 16 million colors into the deal then you can safely state this is definitely a top of the range device.
Apart from the huge screen in the front side houses three hardware buttons, send and end along with the key that allows access to the main menu. Just like on the Nokia 5800 express music and the Samsung Omnia HD around any of this you'll find a video or camera that sends the depth controls screen brightness, the proximity sensor as well as the LED indicator and the loudspeaker right above it.
On its sides you're to find a MicroSD slot, manufacturer standard charger port and the camera buttons to start shooting and switch between snapshot and video modes as well as access the phone gallery. The volume rocker is also used to zoom in and out and thinks while capturing content and doing the latter really feels as if you were using connection digital camera. Speaking of snapshots, with the 12 megapixel camera just hidden right under the sliding cover. As you can see the camera comes along with Xenon flash and LED light to help optics focus subject more easily.
The Satio runs the Symbian S60 fifth edition operating system just like the Nokia 5800 express music and the N97 and the Samsung Omnia HD. Each interface has been through some changes so that it more closely resembles at a Sony Ericsson phones so let's get started with the home screen. The first step allows you to bring your favorite contact on screen and the second if you select one of them a three option menu pops up. The second one shows up to eight of your favorite webpages and the third tab is literally the home screen itself because that’s the default setting.
You can navigate to it by pressing the end button. There is a shortcut at the bottom that gets you to the audio and menu and that you're able to control playback from there while music is being played in the background. There are four shortcuts below leading to the phone dialing screen, multimedia flash menu, your messages and the phone search.
And let's get to the next step that is actually the gallery where you can see snapshots taken with the device camera. They can be browse by sliding your finger or ports or downloads and until an actual menu appears when you select the picture that allows you to set the snapshot as wallpaper, send it with a message, upload it on the internet or preview it in the full functional phone gallery. And the last step shows some menu of eight shortcuts and each of them can be personalized to your own taste. It is a good thing that switching between tabs is as easy, as simple as sliding a finger against the screen. As a whole and the rest of interface is not much different from what we have seen on other device as running the same operating system.
Cam to text entry you can take your pick from among hands writing recognition, small QWERTY keyboard that can be more of their own to display, full QWERTY keyboard taken cover of the entire screen or the standard numeric keypad. Now, we’ll slide the camera cover open to take a closer look at the interface. It doesn’t exactly impress with which functionality or place in coverall look. One of off-the-beaten track functions is called Touch Focus and it allows you to pick an object to focus on without having to center it on the screen. In terms of video capture the phone does videos with the resolution of 640x480 pixels and that is pretty much all.
Now onto the audio glare interface. As a whole it's comfort to use although it seems to lack in our functionality. It forms a functionality and sound effect are both missing but at least you're here for variety of options to view the content but artist, album, ultra X, podcast, etcetera.
And let's take a quick look at the video player. Its interface features the large buttons and delivers several functions with one of them to switch between full screen modes or back to the original aspect. Unfortunately, the Satio is not expected to support DiVX or exit of content. As a whole were really pleased with everything, the prototype showcase. Still there is quite sometime onto retail units hit the market into last quarter of the year. We do expect to see it face some serious competition when the phone has finally arrived and it’s no wonder its specifications will look sensational by that time.
