Hey guys, Jon Rettinger here. For those of you that have been watching my videos these past few months you mean though that I've been filming exclusively using a Flip Mino HD. The camera has been great for portability but the video quality isn’t as high resolution as they would like and the audio quality you'll notice of this recently has not been the best. So in effort to make my videos a little more professional kind of add some audio, video fidelity I went to purchase a brand new high definition video camera from Amazon which I'm going to unbox for you guys right now.
I'm really excited about this camera. It’s a Sony. It’s supposed to be one of the best around and let's go ahead and dig it and see what we’ve got. So here's just the cardboard Amazon box so then this terribly exciting. Go open it up. There you go, all right. All right, there is some shipping information there. Here is the box, take out the Amazon package. Push this off to the side and the camera that I got is the Sony HDR SR11, price is on it. They are going to vary really depending on where you look. This was a little bit expensive and I decided to splurge a little bit. It’s the HDR SR11 and it was about $700.00 on Amazon but I'm hoping that it's going to be worth it for the videos and some future projects. So let's go ahead and get cracking.
Go with the specs and stuff kind of as we progress. Actually let's go ahead and look at the box first. It’s the picture of the camera on the front, model number there again HDR SR11, reminding you to get a spare battery and Bravia Sync Photo TV HD. You know the picture of the camera on the side, just some technical specs right there, technical specs right here. It’s got actually a mini HDMI ports. You connect it right to your TV which is kind of cool. And there's some other stuff on the back here. It’s got a 10.2 megapixel camera or lens for still images. It’s got Carl Zeiss lenses, face detection, multi language operation, 3.2 inch, extra fine LCD which is a touch screen and steady shot. It also has night vision which is kind of cool. I don’t know if I ever use it but it’s so nice to have and Abit stabilization built-in should be pretty good.
So let's go ahead and break the seal here. All right, seal is broken. Let's open it up and see what we got inside. I know one other person has this camera. He would be really happy with it so I'm hoping to get similar results and be equal as having. It’s fully compatible with iMovie which is nice. Let's open this up, okay. You know just a little bit weird to be filming a video unboxing my new camera with my old camera. A little bit sad for the old Mino but I'm going to keep it for portability if I'm going somewhere with my family and friends if I want to take some video they really nice to have.
Some software that it comes with, it looks like some more software that it comes with. Lot of books, stuff that handy cam, a little bit of warranty, 15% E-coupon, eligible accessories, where is the good stuff. What do we got here? Notes on for using a computer, all right and this records actually at full 1080 which is quite nice. Here is the operating guide and here is the actual camera itself.
Pull off this tab, push that back down. Sony doesn’t make very nice products and I think the quality they should hopefully justify its price. I got some audio video cables nothing terribly exciting right there. Put those on to the side. It’s a big USB to mini USB cord I have ton of this lining up, more cables. Here's how the charger cable looks like. Yeah, that must plug into—I think there is a dock in here and then just well, having problems there, more video cables, the power bricks with the cord that I showed you plugs into there, here is the battery. Going knock on this camera has been battery like isn’t so strong but not that concern I always video five or six minutes of the time and it’s not the day that it can inconvenient to plug it back in but we’ll see how the battery works. So we can see the size on right there.
Certain point two volts recyclable, it’s a small battery, not too large. Set up to the side, here is a remote. Actually the remotes are pretty handy just stand the remotes stuff play, fast forward, back, zoom, start and stop. Here is the charging cradle, this is actually pretty cool you rest the camera right on top of it and you can plug it in the back and you can charge it nice and easily. Can you tell a little bit of dock?
All right, and what matters the most the piece carries this on the camera itself. Let's take a look at it. It has a 60 gig hard drive built-in for recording video and also takes flash drives as well. Sony is proprietary format. 1014 megapixel, HD full 1080, records at 1920 by 1080 IHD recording, 60 gigabytes. It records up to 22 hours, hard disk hybrid. Like I said it also use a Sony memory stick so there is the camera itself. It feels nice take a look at the—wow that is quite a large lens right there. If you find there are other can rotate to the side for when you’re filming yourself which I do quite a bit.
Push that down it’s got a view finder that pops up. I probably never really use that. There is the mode start, stop, quick on. It’s actually put the sync to sleep when you push click on and you're ready to record immediately. There is your zoom just another side of you. There's a front of the lens. It’s got a 12 times optical zoom which is actually very nice. Let's take a look at the ports it has on it. There is your mini HDMI port. There is external line for microphone which should be nice and there's a line for headset.
This records audio I believe in full 5.1 surround sound which is just really nice. Probably you too will never ever be 5.1. There's some other port right there for charging, audio video ports and that looks to be about it guys, of course nice lens. I'm really excited to use this and give a whirl of course. I would give you guys a review on it and all this some sample of videos comparing this with the flip Mino so you guys can see directly.
All right, I'm really excited like I mentioned. For exclusive content be sure to follow me on Twitter, Twitter.com/Jon4Lakers. I see you guys in the next video. Bye-bye.
