The landscape varies throughout the region. There are many plateaus high above sea level. These are called belts, and cover most of Zimbabwe, Angola, Malawi and Zambia.
The Sutu is very mountainous, and it was the large mountain range on the island of Madagascar and the western boarder of Mozambique.
The country of South Africa has some to the world’s oldest rocks, with mountains older than the Himalayas or Alps.
The Kalahari Desert covers some of Angola and almost all of Baswa. The Bushman, a society preserving mankind’s hunter gather or origins live in the Kalahari.
There are grassland and forest in Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The countries in the south like Namibian, Lesutu and much of South Africa have little rain fall, making the plan hot and dry. The Northern Countries like Zambia and Zimbabwe have plentiful but variable rain fall. But there, periodic drought may cause famine.
The grasslands are important to farming and cattle raising. And this grassland or Savanans are also very beautiful.
The wild animals of Southern Africa attract many tourists. The animals are often found in National Parks where they are protected.
Elephants, Wildebeests, and Zebras maybe seen in these areas. There over 50 different kinds of wild animals in Zimbabwe alone.
It is important that these animals be protected for future generations.
Because once they have vanished, they are gone, forever.
