Standard Digital Camera Buying Guide
I’m Jessica with the TopTenReviews. Standard size digital cameras are the class of cameras between compact and DSLR. If you decided that it is time to buy a new digital camera, here are a few tips to consider about your next purchase.
Mega pixels, one of the most common question people ask is “How many mega pixels do I need?” The larger the number of mega pixels you have, the higher resolution your picture will be and the crisper the details in your photo will be.
The amount mega pixels cameras are capable of capturing, has reason dramatically recent years. These days, standard digitals cameras usually range between 8 and 15 mega pixels. However, they’re perfectly capable cameras with a lower count. Cameras with a lower count will suit casual users who want to share their pictures online or make small prints. Now, don’t worry too much about mega pixels. To be safe, just get as many mega pixels as your budget will tolerate. Remember, you can easily re-size your pictures to be smaller anyways.
The next is memory. How do you store your photos is almost as important as how you take them. All digital cameras have at least some internal memory but it usually so small that is not even useful. So, make sure you buy extra memory for your camera.
Image stabilizers, if you ever had a picture come out blurry because of unsteady hand; you need to look in to image stabilizers. This feature on a standard digital camera can compensate for minimal hand shaking to help with the blurring. Even if you have a steady hand, this a good feature to have to help your keep your photos crisp and clear.
Zoom. Here’s another feature to remember. Well, there are no definitive guidelines for how much zoom you need. Think about the pictures you want to take. Optimal zoom physically moves the camera lens to make the subject to appear closer. A 10 time zoom is becoming the standard on these digital cameras.
Digital zoom on the other hand resizes the image it self making it appear larger. If you’re taking pictures from far away, you’ll need to know that optical zoom is the feature you want to be the strongest.
The next is batteries; the kind of batteries you use will vary widely depending on the camera you buy. So, it is something to consider. They all fall into three specific categories; Models Specific, Rechargeable, and Disposable.
Model specific batteries have a reputation for lasting the longest of any battery because they’re optimized for their specific model of camera. Rechargeable batteries are nice because you don’t have to constantly be buying your batteries but you do have to replace them when ran out and Disposables are just common batteries you put in almost all the electronics you want. They’re not rechargeable and you have to replace them constantly. So, make sure you know what you’re in for before you buy.
Other features. Make sure the camera you buy has the ability to customize the features you pay for. Almost all standard digitals cameras let you turn Off the default settings. So, look in to the advance options like expose your time and picture format. This gives you the freedom to tailor you settings to your shooting style.
