Nicotine, gum and lozenges which you can buy at a drug store without a prescription can satisfy the need for smoke and help you to avoid weight gain.

You chew a piece of gum or you suck in a throat lozenge about every hour or two in the beginning with the number decreasing over the time. Nicotine spray goes directly into the nose once or twice an hour and are good for smokers who are highly addicted. Nicotine inhalers can give smokers that hand to mouth action that they are used to. Both nasal sprays and inhalers are sold by prescription only. Nicotine patches which you can get over the counter are among the easiest to use.

Slap them on your bare chest or upper chest and leave them there for up to a day. Many of these products are best used in conjunction with counseling and other behavior modification techniques. If you try one and it doesn't work, try something else. Whatever you do, it is important to just quit smoking.
