Hi everyone, this is Steve and I am posting a video blog or blog, or whatever you would like to call it, on how to do stop motion animation. In this blog, it is in response to other equipment for stop motion.
First, we need a camera. We are simply recording this with a digital camera. I will use this little controller. Now, the next we are going to need is a set, and since I am one of those brick fan, let us say, this is a brick, so I need Lego. There we have some Lego.
Now, first you need to tape down your camera or Blu Tack that or whatever. And then, place it over here, in front of your men. Please do not get distracted by the remote control. Next is lighting. Now, I am not the best about lighting but you can look at this blog—it is not exactly a blog—blurry lamp, 21 minutes lamp, or you can look at Nathan’s blog or blogs, whatever you might call them. He is brilliant at lighting. At the moment, I am only showing you one light for it. Actually, this lamp is good because you can light the whole set.
The tip is when you are lighting a set, make sure your curtains are closed or if not, make sure your curtains are dark because then the lighting is going to be flickery which have happened in loads of them.
So now, let us say this is the model of myself in Lego, and your man. Let us say I will need to raise my hand and say something to that in about half a second slow. So if you place them in a 26 frames per second, it is about half a second, or 20 frames there.
So I will move my arm a little bit. Lift the arm a little bit more, a bit slightly. Take a shot. Take the shot again, and again, and again, and sometimes you are going to get faster everytime you go through it. You just have to get used to it. And sometimes if your legs are too loose, you might Blu Tack them down, and again, and that process goes on for a long time.
All right, the next and most important thing is software or a program. Now, there are no contortions for software. You can use the capture your animation which captures the frames into a film. You can use Monkey Jam or Amazon Stop Motion Animator. You can use Windows Movie Maker or iMovie or something like that, something simple. You can purchase something.
Anyway, I am not going to tell you how to do the film because I know of some blogs that are coming out and some blogs that are already out to tell you how to edit because in all the reasons, there are lots of ways to edit films, and I have an unusual software that the only person who used is my friend from school.
So, in my next blog, I am going into more details in the stop-motion. Once you get this down, I am going to—I will not tell you. Actually, I keep this secret but it is a very awkward thing to do and it is pretty detailed.
So that is how to animate, and the equipments used for animation. I think that is it, so see you.
