Stopping Computer Hackers Dead
Hi! FrugalTech here and I came across an article day in Business Week that really gave me a chance to stop and think and I want to share this with you. You know, according to AT&T labs that cyber criminals are causing all of us over a trillion dollars a year in crime in what they’re doing to our computers.
Now, the focus of the article was really about a startup called InZero. According to the article, InZero was a startup company who was described as developing a hack proof hardware base system. Basically, what they’ve done is they’ve taken and built a physical Sandbox—this is between your computer and the internet. As right now, it’s a pretty complicated device with four processors in over 60 million lines of computer code but you know, in the end of our base security company called eScrip has had a team of four security experts attacking the system for two weeks solid and could not break the system. This is a rendition to other test out there.
Now, the idea of creating a Sandbox using virtual machine is nothing new but the problem remains at one side become infected, you have to wipe, re-install and so on. This device would eliminate the need for that. Now, because the company’s engineers, many of them are base in Kiev, our government isn’t too keen right now apparently on helping them move this thing along. Also, the company InZero was working on simplifying the code base and getting this system down to where it might be possible. The byte is some additional chips for around $25.00.
Now, I think this thing really has some lights to it and it may cause security vendors to rethink their strategy of using a software client based installed to protect your computer on the internet. This thing could definitely save network administrators a lot of time, hassle and money if it ever takes off.
I’d like to get your opinions about InZero and the concept of a physical based Sandbox. By the way, one of the things that make it so successful is that its memory and everything else is read only. So, it can’t wipe to it. Also, of course it can’t prevent a denial service attack but the technology seems to be sound and seems to have lights. So, I’d like to get your opinion about it.
