Storing Sweaters Wrinkle Free Bea: In our busy world today, who has time to do any extra ironing or steaming? I know I do not. I have a sweater that I love and I want to fold it up and put away for next season. And when I open up box, I want to be able to wear it without ironing or steaming it. How I do that? Well today. I’m with Charles MacPherson who’s the President and Founder of Academy for Butlers and Household Managers and welcome. Charles: Thank you for having me. So we’re going to take your perfect sweater that you love so much? Bea: Yes. Charles: We’re going to put that on a flat surface and then the next thing that we’re going to do is we’re actually going to put some tissue paper in there. Because what we want to do is create some volume because wrinkles are created when fabric is too tightly on top of it. So now that we’re going to start fold this sweater over the tissue paper. Bea: Can it be regular paper or you really prefer tissue? Charles: Tissue paper is really the best. Make sure that we have this spacing at the top, just tight. We will go on the bottom to top. Bea: Perfect! Charles: And there we go. So now we have our sweater ready to go in the box. And just before we put it in the box, on the top of the first sweater that we folded there earlier, we’re just going to put another piece of tissue paper down then we’ll take the sweater and then cover it again with a little bit more tissue. And then, we have the lid to keep the dust out. And you’ll notice that after we pack this box that there isn’t actually too many sweaters in there so it’s not too tight because the fabric actually needs to breath. Bea: I see. Charles: Just better and again, it will help make sure you don’t have any wrinkles. Bea: And you promise me I will not have the iron or steam this next season. Charles: I promise. Bea: I love it.
