Paul: Hi, my name is Paul. I'm from Los Angeles, California. I'm 34 years old and i do experience a lot of stress at work and I would like to know if stress can cause my short-term memory to fail? Elkhonon Goldberg: Paul, a long-term severe stress that may impair your memory because it has been show that stress results may result in damage to the hippocampi which are structures that are important for memory but we are not talking about every day little stresses here and there we are talking about sustained severe ongoing stress. This is something to be avoided.
