Hi, this is a quick video from Blog Tactics to show you how to use Blog Carnivals to get back links and traffic to your blog. It is very easy to do.
This video is on blogtactics.com on the videos page with all the other videos like showing how to add AdSense, how to set-up a blog, how to claim it on Technorati, Mybloglog, all sorts of videos.
Anyway, this one is about Blog Carnivals. So the first thing you need to do is go to blogcarnival.com and sign up for new account. They will send you an e-mail to your e-mail address and there will be link in there that you need to click on to confirm that it is your e-mail address.
Then all you need to do is put in the url or domain for your blog and choose a relevant category. So for instance, my blog is about making money online, so I chose business. Equally, I could have chosen money and finance, but choose a category that is relevant to your blog.
Then all you need to do is log on to Blog Carnival and at last, you come up with the page where you can run your own carnivals if you want to. I will do another video about that in the future because that can be quite useful as well.
However, what we want to do at the moment is browse all carnivals and find one that is suitable for a blog, and submit a blog to it. So, we will just wait while this page comes up.
Once the page comes up, you can see that blog carnival is listed with the category “latest edition”, “next edition” because all of these sites are run regularly, so they obviously must be working for them.
So, this is worth running around at some point. However, this is a long list. If I scroll down, there are a lot of Blog Carnivals that you can choose from here in all sorts of different categories.
So, what I need to do now is find one that is suitable for mine. When you do run one yourself, notice that the clever people here have put an exclamation mark or a number or something like that at the start of the name of the Blog Carnival, so that it appears at the top of the list, which is quite useful
Now, I have had a look-through, there is one here for entrepreneur business that should suit my blog, so I am going to use that one and it will come up with a new page where we have to put in some details.
As for the first page, we need to scroll down and choose “submit an article” and while that page is coming up, basically, we are going to need the url of permalink for the article that we want to submit.
So, go back to the blog that I am submitting for and choose a suitable article. You need to make it a good article. I mean, this one is just listing few different affiliate offers, so that may not be as an good article for instance, as this one, which is about focusing the success online and making sure you take action and stuff like that. So more useful, more informative article so it is more likely to get accepted by the Blog Carnivals.
I will right click and choose “copy shortcut”. I will go back to Blog Carnival page and I will paste in the url. Then I can choose a category as well. Actually, it is going to update as well. It will just take a second to update, put some extra information in.
That is automatically put in the track back url, which is basically the same url as the url for the article itself. We have tracked back on the end, not particularly complicated. That is for Word Press. I do not know about other blogging systems, but the Word Press just track back on the end.
Put in your blog url here if it has not fixed up. Put in a name if it has not picked it up. Put in a category. I am going to go with the “entrepreneur” and put in some remarks. I am just going to post or I will type something in.
So basically, put in a quick description, you just go ahead to focus on one thing at time and move your online business forward. That is all the detail that we need to put in. You can see how quick and easy this is.
Now, if I then click on submit at the bottom, it will just take a moment to submit that and we will then go and have a look at the kind of link, track back link that you will receive or requested for in your blog.
Well, we received the request for the comment immediately on our blog because obviously the comment, the track back has to be accepted by the blog owner who is running the carnival.
So what I will do instead is go to my Blog Tactics blog and you can see here, this is the kind of comment that you will receive. This is what I have done to Blog Tactics on another carnival, eBay sellers, and basically, you need to approve this and you then got a link back to your blog from theirs and they have got a link to their blog from yours.
Everybody is a winner. You get some extra links and sometimes you get a bit traffic from it as well.
If the article you have written is related or relevant to where the carnival is on and it is good information, then you will get visitors, but it is very useful just for the back links alone. And you can see that it takes just a few minutes to do, so it is worth spending five minutes a day, doing few submissions and getting some new links to your site everyday.
