Doctor: Sure, a heart attack occurs when there is diminish blood flow, decrease blood flow to the heart muscle itself. The arteries that provide blood flow to the heart are called coronary arteries and because of spasm or blockage the blood flow to the heart muscle is decrease and that is what a heart attack is. And that is commonly is occurs in older people, sudden cardiac arrest occurs when there is a heart arrhythmia. When the electrical system of the heart beats extremely irregular and out of control and causes the heart to pump ineffectively.
