Meghan Asha: Welcome to TMI Weekly.
Julia Allison: Happy Friday, this is our Countdown to Summer Style, brought to you by Caress.
Mary Rambin: And we have sent our new correspondent, Adrien Field, out to Austin, Texas to talk to Carson Kressley about new summer trends. Today is asymmetry, showing a little extra skin on the top. Interesting necklines.
Meghan Asha: Skin is always in Mary.
Mary Rambin: Good skin.
Julia Allison: Transparent skin.
Mary Rambin: No.
Julia Allison: Okay, let's let Adrien take it from here. Adrien, what's up?
Carson Kressley: We are in Austin, Texas. This is what they do here, watch. Hook 'em, just do it. Hook 'em, no, they are not hooked.
Adrien Field: In Austin, what are the big trends right now that we can keep an eye on and look at ?
Carson Kressley: Spring and summer, I think the first big trend is, even here in Texas, I think people have been kind of bundled up all winter long, and you have had your long sleeves and your sweaters and your jackets, and for guys and for the ladies, I think the first thing is, shed those layers, show a little skin, make that a fashion accessory.
Adrien Field: Skin is always in, right?
Carson Kressley: Right. This is a really big trend right now.
Adrien Field: So we see asymmetrical.
Carson Kressley: Yeah, not just this gorgeous kind of forked color, which I adore, would be amazing with your coloring.
Adrien Field: I think it would even fit me, right?
Carson Kressley: It totally would. Yeah, extra small. The trend here is the asymmetrical or the one shoulder. That's a great style for spring, because it does show a lot of skin. Michelle Obama wore the one-shoulder number to the inauguration. This is totally 'Sixteen Candles'.
Adrien Field: It's also kind of 80s, we have the whole 80s?
Carson Kressley: It's very 80s. This is totally 'Sixteen Candles', but updated. And again, if you are going to show all the shoulder and arm, you want to be exfoliated, use the body wash like Caress, evenly gorgeous, because it has exfoliating brown sugar and karite butter, it's going to get you ready to show off this beautiful shoulder.
The problem that most women have is that they are not symmetrical. Either their shoulders are too big or too narrow, or their hips are too big or too narrow, or they are bigger on the bottom than they are on the top. It's all about symmetry, and a one-shouldered number like this, kind of throws the eye off, and it's naturally asymmetrical, so it's not going to highlight any symmetry. It's going to kind of take your eye away from that. The asymmetrical, although it shows a lot of skin, it's also really flattering on most body-types.
And when you see a friendly face, a friendly shopper, you just say hook 'em, and that means that you are either a fellow Austin or you went to the University of Texas, or you just like things with horns.
