Begetta Hoffner: Are you a kook who is stoked to Hang Ten? If you are or if you have no idea what we are talking about, stay tuned because we are going to show you how to surf.

Begetta Hoffner: Ready to go? Hold on a minute, you need to know the basics before you can hit the waves with the Pro’s. Start off at a quieter beach with beginning surfers.
Malibu Ken: The best place to learn, I like Sunset Point, Malibu is not a place to learn.
Begetta Hoffner: For safety, always go surfing with a friend and always stay near the lifeguards. Also, make sure that there is a surf shop nearby so you can rent a board. Before you head out, make sure you attach the leash to your ankle. This will prevent the board getting away from you. Next, practice your technique while you are still on the beach. You will need to use strong deep strokes to paddle out. You will also need to pop-up when once you catch a wave. Try arching your back, sliding your feet forward on the board and try pushing up. Keep your arms forward to keep your balance.
Begetta Hoffner: Let us be honest, surfing is hard. You are going to take some falls early on but keep at it.
Surfer Dude: My main tip would be practice as much as you can, stay on the water as long as possible and watch people, note what they are doing and maybe find somebody who is willing to take you out and show you the ropes.
It is on a day like today when there is waves, there are a lot of people out there that get really territorial and aggressive and it is not safe because if they do not know what they are doing and they make a mistake, their board get hit somebody.
Begetta Hoffner: But even once you become good, you are not a real surfer unless you can talk the talk.
Surfer Dude: People who do not know how to surf are generally referred to as “kooks” or “barneys”. That “kook” should be wearing a leash.
Malibu Barbie: I would probably say stoked. The surf is so good that I had some great waves, I am stoked.
Surf Dudette: A Hang ten, Hang Ten because if you do not, you do not know what you are missing.
Begetta Hoffner: With this advice, you should be riding the waves in no time. For Brewing News29, this is Begetta Hoffner and Courtney Bowman saying, Surf’s up.
