Chef Cat De Orio: Hi, I am Chef Cat De Orio with Sara Lee. The holidays are so crazy, you always have guests stopping by unannounced to wish you some holiday cheer and I am going to show you how to make them feel special. We are going to make a simple yet special meal solution; Surprised Drop By Pumpkin Pie and we are going to pair it with some delicious Senseo coffee from the origin's blend line.
We are going to start with Sara Lee Oven Fresh pumpkin Pie; you are going to prepare it according to package directions and bake it out for about 60 minutes. Well the oven is preheating to 375, you are going to want to put your baking sheet in the oven, it will get it warm and then when your pie is baking off, it is going to evenly brown the bottom, so that it matches the rest of you pie and has that nice crispy buttery texture. Now what we are going to do is we are going to get a little pizzazz to this so that it is a little special, little different than just a normal pumpkin pie.
We are going to make a pecan topping, it is going to be made with half of cup of pecan, about half a cup of brown sugar. This is going to melt and it is going to get bubbly and sweet and delicious and it is going to make your house smell amazing. Your guest will feel so special. About two tablespoons of flour, all purpose flour is fine, mix that up and then you are going to melt some butter and it is about two tablespoons of butter.
This is going to help to bind all of these ingredients together. It is kind of the best of both worlds; you are adding like a pecan pie topping to pumpkin pie. You are going to mix this in till it is completely incorporated. Now you don’t have to worry about having all of the flour completely melt, this will all melt together and it will incorporate as it bakes as well.
And that's it. Then all you are going to do is take, after you've taken this out of the oven, you are going to pour this on top of the pie and just make sure that you have evenly distribute it, so that every guest gets a good mouthful of this delicious pecan topping. Then you are going to pop this back into the oven for about ten minutes and when it is done, it will be gooey and delicious, you are going to have the spicy pumpkin pie, you are going to have the gooeyness and the crunchiness and the sweetness of the praline pecan topping.
And then just to make it a little extra special, take some whipped topping put a nice little dollop on top, may be sprinkle some cinnamon or some ground clove on it and serve it up with a gourmet cup of Senseo coffee. It is sure to make all your guests feel so special. So for this simple solution or others, please come to visit me at TotalMealsOnline.com. Have a wonderful holiday.
