Sweeping Fringe Makeover

[Music Playing] Sarah Jagger: Hi! I'm Sarah Jagger and welcome to Mummy Makeover, the show where we beautify busy mummies. We know that you have hands full with tiny tearaways and don't have as much time to spend on your hair and makeup which you are used to. That's where we come in. Gary France is a top stylist with hair dresser Toni and Guy. He will get to work on your hair and I'm a professional makeup artist. I can make you beautiful. Meet Katrina Campbell. In the morning she only has time to spend three minutes on her makeup. Her favorite makeup product is mascara and she doesn't like her nose. Katrina, welcome to Mummy Makeover. Hi Katrina! Katrina tell me a little bit about yourself. Katrina Campbell: Okay, I am 33, I've recently had a baby, Charlie. He is five months old, and I'm living at home with my husband Sam, which is very nice and taking time out from work. Well, I am normally an Account Director in an advertising agency. It's a very different. Sarah Jagger: Okay, you're quite busy. Katrina Campbell: Yeah, I'm busy, bit different busy but still busy. Sarah Jagger: Now you have three minutes to spend on your makeup in the morning you said. Katrina Campbell: Yeah, I think that's generous, I think probably less if at all. Sarah Jagger: Okay, what you do in the mornings? Katrina Campbell: Oh God! Well, getting baby ready to go out really is the main priority and mascara of mine kind of touch my eyes at some stage in process. Sarah Jagger: Your hair, what do you normally do with your hair? Katrina Campbell: Not much, so again I'd love to just spend a bit more time on it, and refreshing it up, a good cut, that will be great. Sarah Jagger: Okay, we'll talk to Gary about that. Katrina Campbell: That will be great. Sarah Jagger: I'll go and introduce you to him. Katrina Campbell: Okay. Sarah Jagger: And then I'll do your makeup afterwards. Katrina Campbell: Lovely! Sarah Jagger: Katrina, this is Gary. Gary France: Hi Katrina! How are you? Nice to meet you! Katrina Campbell: Hi! How are you? Nice to meet you! Sarah Jagger: I am going to leave you with Gary to do your hair. Gary France: Okay, come and have a seat. So, first baby, how do you feel about this hair? Katrina Campbell: Yeah, wow! I haven't done anything with it for about five months. Gary France: Okay, just my immediate thoughts just to look -- again tremendous hair. It's very thick. I think we could possibly take a little weight out of it. May be introduce some longer layers through here to just release some weight out of there. I love the way that comes across there back, this may be a little bit shorter. So it's not a fringe, but it's just something that you could wear, coming across your face like that. Also you can still be able to tuck that back as a low maintenance option. If you are struggling into -- Katrina Campbell: Low maintenance is good. Gary France: You're multitasking. Katrina Campbell: Yeah. Gary France: Mothers do. Okay, I think what we'll do is give you lots of different options with it. So you can just not dry or if you want to dress it out for an occasion or something then that's great. But low maintenance, kind of ready to wear, so really the key today is just to do some -- a little bit of layering. Work on that fringe area, I'll bring that in a little while. We'll probably do a nice conditioning treatment to see some shine back into it, but that's okay with you. Katrina Campbell: Yes, that looks brilliant. Gary France: Really, I am praying a bit. Katrina Campbell: Good! Sarah Jagger: Katrina has her hair washed and Gary starts cutting the hair while it's still wet. He is building layers into Katrina's hair, loosing the heavy bob and also creating a sweeping fringe across the front of her face. It requires some rather nifty work of the scissors. Is your husband good with the baby? Katrina Campbell: Yeah, he is very nice, I know he is really good. I suppose he has impressed me though, because you know -- Gary France: Yes, of course. Sarah Jagger: Half an hour later, the cut is complete, a final blow drying and Gary's work is done. Gary, I love what you've done, this kind of flicky bouncing bob Gary France: Exactly. I mean -- Sarah Jagger: How did you do this? Gary France: Well, we did have the real plastic bob beforehand, and it was nice but it was just too heavy and it was going very heavy here and very flat there. So the whole idea today was to re-energize the whole shape. And we did that by working with some longer layers, and reducing the way around the last third of the hair, we actually cut-in to that bob. To create a much looser more textured fill through the ends. I think it really improved this whole, this sort of fringe area and that we've just made it so it just sort of comes across and it just flicks out, and again working with that texture the layers and the primitive length it gives a great sort of finish to shape around her face. Sarah Jagger: What I loved is, all the movement that you put into the haircut. Gary France: Exactly! That's really what the layering differs, to give it that texture, that separation and then just because, she does have a little bit of a kink in then end and I wanted to bring that out. And I think we've done that really well. We just used a little product as well, so that's very light in there, just got great shine in there, the texture and the separation at the end. Sarah Jagger: Expensive too. So Katrina, what do you think? Katrina Campbell: I love that. I think it's a really good cut, really excellent. Sarah Jagger: Well let's take you, and going for the makeup. Katrina, because you've got this very bouncy, flicky, very feminine haircut, I think I'd really like to compliment it using some pinks. You definitely suit pink, and I think it would be nice just to kind of concentrate on flushed cheeks, very mutual soft smoky eyes and some pink lip gloss. What I would like to do is start with a really hydrating moisturizer. This is a day cream specifically designed to really punch moisturizing the skin. Now to use a compact makeup which is very light weight all in one. A nice velvety finish and it's just very quick and easy to apply. You really only need it around the center panel of your face to takeaway wetness. Your eyebrows have a great shape. I don't think we need to do much with eyebrows. What I would like to do with your brows is just kind of give the illusion of lifting and enhancing them. I am keeping your eye with quite pale. The one thing I think would be great for you is to always conceal on the outer corner of the eyes. What it does is it adds a very lifting effect. Now, I am going to set everything with the tiny bit of powder, good trick to keeping radiance in your skin, is to only keep powdered to the center panel of the face as well. That will set your makeup but still let your cheeks glow. I am using a blonde eyebrow pencil, it's a blonde pencil usually contains quite a lot of gray. The gray makes your eyebrow to look more natural. Sometimes pencils have quite a lot of red in them. Red wouldn't go with the natural, actually tones of your hair. Just brightening opening up the eyes. Now you don't need to be precise with this really just want to wash it all the way over the eye. Now pretty pink eyelids. Pink is something that people often are little bit scared of because they think it's making look very tired. But think about pink if you choose a nice icy bright color, it will actually wake your eyes up rather than making you look tired. I have a very soft brown eyeliner. I love these pencils that have the little smugger on the other end of them. Eyelash curlers, they just make your eyelashes look so much longer because they keep your eyes quite soft, quite neutral. I'm using a brown-black mascara, this one is lash extending mascara. Sparkling lip gloss can really give the illusion of larger lips. What I'm going to do is add some radiance to your cheek bones with very pale, pearly, shimmery lotion. I take very small amount as little as possible on my finger. Just push it into the skin. The effect that you want is to just use enough so that your glows in certain lights. So Katrina, pretty in Pink. This is what you looked like this morning, and this is you now. Katrina Campbell: Yeah, much better, really different, yeah, really fantastic. Sarah Jagger: Are you happy? And your hair is gorgeous and bouncy. Katrina Campbell: Yeah.
