Teena: Hi! I am Teena and this is Mike, we are from Head Over Heels Dance and Fitness and we're teaching you basic swing dancing and actually we've taught the Charleston, the Jitterbug and now we're going to teach some Lindy. The Lindy, we're going to teach you the swing out from closed position and it goes like this.
We're going to demo it first and then we will break it down. It goes like this; five, six, seven, eight, rock step, tripled, step, step, triple step. Alright, tweak that down we will do the guys' footwork and the girls' footwork separately. So the girls' footwork we're going to do a rock step, triple step, alright, that's the first three beats, and then we're going to do a five, and the guy is going to rotate us on five. Five, and then we're going to do another rotation and I am going to be on my right foot and that is six and then we're going to unwind facing each other with the triple step, that will be seven and eight.
Mike: Okay, so now I'm going to show the guys' footwork for the swing out and for me the first two beats are just like I am doing a regular Jitterbug basic, rock step. Now, instead of doing a triple step forward, I am going to triple step right in front of her. So instead of this as in a Jitterbug, I am going to just get right in front of her. Rock step, triple step. I go here to have a still face the same direction she was, but I am straggling her right leg with mine.
So now that's beat three and four, five is -- well I start with five, I am going to turn a quarter turn to my right, putting all my partner's weight on to her left foot and my weights on my right foot and then let her swing out and spin away from me and she is going to do the 180 degree turn that she had done before and for me I am just going to catch her weight, and I am stepping sort of in front of her, my left foot -- my weight goes on to my left foot and then triple step on beat seven and eight. So real slow it looks like this, rock step, I triple in front, I turn, step and triple step.
So that is a swing out from closed position and now that we're in the open position we can move on to the next step, which is a swing out in open position.
