Hi! I am Rich Hogan from the Whitetail Golf Resort. Today's video is on teaching you how to swing a golf club properly. Next item we are going to work on is the follow-through into a good finish position.
As a teacher I think this is more probably the most important position in the golf swing, trying to get the player into a good finish position. Once we get that player into that good finish position, it means that they've done a lot of things properly, in the takeaway, and at the top of the backswing, even at impact.
At this point in time we'll teach people to take the golf club from here and just gradually move the club forward until the club is somewhat pointing down our target line, I am going for right-hand person, I am going to allow their right heel to come up in the air, so that it allow them to face their target a little bit more.
At this point, your arms are extended, club straight out. At this point we are going to allow the hands and arms to collapse and come up over the shoulder. The more we allow that club to get into that this position, the better the results were going to get. If the person were to stop here, their ball might move out to the right, or if they get the club over here, it may cause them to pull the ball a little bit to the left.
So trying to get a player into a good position at the conclusion of their golf swing taking the club forward, letting it get in, letting the heel and the body turn down the target line, and then allowing everything to collapse up over the shoulder, and keeping the person in balance.
Acquiring a good finished position is going to prove that everything has gone correctly in the rest of the swing. The next item we are going to work on is the takeaway and getting the club to the top of the backswing.
