Hi! My name is Katie Jackson, and I'm here at Studio Bleu Dance Center in Ashburn, Virginia. Today I'm going to teach you how to Jazz Dance. We're going to start off with a switch leap. And now, I'm going to break it down for you. We're going to start off pointing our right foot, we stand through our knee into toes, make sure your toes nice and pointed. Chasse, which is like a gallop gets you nice and high up off the floor.
You're going to step with your left leg in plié which means to bend. Step another step with your right leg, also in plié. I'm going to make stand my left leg, nice and straight through my knee into my toe, make sure it's nice and straight and pointed at the end. My arms, I'm going to come here and while I do that, I'm going to jump, then my leg is going to come through, swing back, as this leg comes up in the front, my arms go over my head with a nice swing motion. As you swing back, it should be nice and quick, enough momentum, you get that front leg off the floor.
And now I'll demonstrate. And now, we'll do it one more time. And now, we'll break it down one more time. Poitn with our right foot, chasse, make sure we step with our left in plié, step with our right in plié, extend through my left leg, I'm going to jump at this point and then my leg is going to swing through and this leg is going to come up in the front. I'll demonstrate it one last time. And that's how we do a switch leap. And now I'll show you how to do a pirouette turn.
