Dr. Benjamin Greenberg: Rick, multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune condition where the central nervous system is damaged by immune cells infiltrating the brain and the spinal cord. The signs and symptoms are quite variable. This can present with vision problems specifically loss of vision in one eye or double vision, weakness or numbness in an arm or leg, or difficulty with walking either due to balance or weakness.

If you develop symptoms of weakness, numbness, or vision problems, that last for more than 24 hours or interfere with daily activities, it's incredibly important to see a physician and most of the time an MRI can help in aiding and the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.
