Hi guys! What we're going to look at now is Synergetic Kali Silat, how do you apply the leg maneuvers. Remember what we're trying to do first and foremost is to catch somebody. We want to catch their strike. We want to catch the kick. That's what we're going to look at right now is how to just catch a stationary leg.
This drill is just a drill, so keep that in mind. Obviously you're going to have a guy, just staying there and willingly letting you manipulate his leg. This is to practice the technique. So, I'm going to invite Brandon in here. We're going give you demonstration of some basics
We're going to start off, you can picture the box if we do it like this. So if you have learning to box, you know that we have the basic twist. We won't be applying that so much right now, but we're going to be looking at more parallel stepping, where I parallel his body. Okay. He is perpendicular now because he is not moving on. But if he was moving, this would become to parallel to him.
The other technique we're going to see is called the Corner Shuffle where I shuffle this foot to this foot and then shuffle around the corner. This technique allows me to take the side of my opponent and it's really useful if somebody's coming right on you. Boom, boom! Like that. There is your Shuffle. So, we'll look at all of them.
First technique that we're going to drill is called Foot Pin. Foot pinning is very simple. You start off, the basic is to put the heel into the top of the foot, smashing of bones, and then press down with the ball of your foot to throw him back, because he is just going to return for me, I'm going to stomp and press, okay. The one motion and it throws him quite far. If it's done properly and you control the upper gait by holding the shoulder, strapping the hands, holding the head, you actually can even break the foot. But we're getting into that more later. So those are the first two.
Second two, I'm going to actually use the outstep of my foot, I'm stomping real close to the base of his shin. I'm right on the edge of it and I'm going to push with my knee right into it, just like that. I'm going to have stomp and knee, okay.
The next one I'm actually going to do the parallel step with my foot turned in, I'm going to step here. Again this time we really are going to control the upper torso and drive him down or we're going to step through to bring him down. Those are the two applications.
Right now, we're just practicing for placement accurately. So then, you will see it again on this side one, stomping right on the base of a shin where it meets the foot and driving the knee into his knee, okay. So that section and you should drill it back and forth, it will be one two, three, four, five, six, okay. And then we'll just go back and forth. I'm going to show you some more different drills.
Now, the next one is Leg Wrapping. This leg maneuver is very popular in Silat, and not many other places. What you're going to see first, I'm going to take a parallel step to the outside. I'm actually trying to step on his heel back here, and I'm going to wrap my knee around his shin, my shin around his shin like it's almost flexible, and then I'm going to hit his knee with my knee to throw him off balance. Oka,y on the other side, that looks like this, wrap and press.
Okay the next one is Parallel Inside. So I step parallel, but I step to the inside and I press. Okay again on this side, step inside, grab and press. Next we shuffle, shuffle to the outside, step on his heel and lock it back and then shuffle again. Other side, and lock him back.
And then the fourth one is to the inside. So I shuffle from here to here, or from here to here. So go grand total looks like this one two, three, four, five, six and then seven and eight. Okay, the next thing we have with this scoop and the hook. It is just a broad overlook of all of them and then we will break them down for you. The scoop, he is going to put his hand on my shoulder here, when I attack this leg, I am going to come up from the inside off balance him and then scoop. Okay, then I go to the other side, off balance and scoop. Next is off balance and Hook. Off balance and Hook.
So Scoop hook, scoop hook or scoop, scoop, hook, hook. One more time, looks like this, one, two, three, and four and then lastly where some real application comes in. Now we're going from a catch from catching that foot off and throwing him off balance, we're going to pick. We are going to the leg using our feet.
So now when I go to hook, he is here, hook it and then catch it like this. At that point I did all kinds of applications. Hit the leg in the foot, we can just drop it a little bit and actually put the butt on his knee. Not many applications, you can see it on this side, from here, hook it, catch it behind, spin him, trip, whatever you need.
Next you let go the pick, the scoop pick over here, we're going to come up here like this, off balance, boom and then from there the body on the knee, stomp the foot, wrap, the base leg hook the base leg, okay. Spinning to return back to throw him . countless things we are doing.
Look at it from this side. I scoop, if it comes up this high, you can just drive im straight back. If it's a little low again, you can use your knee, pin it here. Okay. If he is not holding you, baam! You come right down to bring him down. Lots of fun to have with this.
So you guys take it to the bank, go practice each of these drills, if you're real comfortable with it and then in future we're going to show you application at every point, really break it down for you. Alright, go practice.
