Hey, what’s up guys? Jon Rettinger from Jon4Lakers.com here with an unboxing for you of the T-Mobile Sidekick 2008 also known as the T-Mobile Sidekick. This is the most recent Sidekick that has been released so let’s go ahead and get to the unboxing. Alright, here we’ve got the FedEx pack. Let’s go ahead and give this an open. I can't quite used my knife that I usually used. I want to stab myself or my hand when I open this. We’ll open it right here. Alright and let’s see what we’ve got inside, return stuff to PR folk, nice one.
Here we’ve got the T-Mobile Sidekick box. I don’t know if this a new device or if it is one that already has been tested but here it is T-Mobile Sidekick. Up front it showed a green device from the back. This one has customizable shells so green is just one that they are showing and kind of an embossed Sidekick well over there. It should looks pretty sleek, Sidekick on the side with just pictures all around. So let’s dig in and see what is inside here. So it slides right out and here is what we’re left with stamps a little bit more.
T-Mobile Sidekick with a picture of the phone and some of the skins. One of the cool things about this I know what you can do is go to T-Mobile site and actually create your own skins and in a few weeks they actually mail them to you and you could go ahead and put them on. They are actually called shells rather. I should say and not skins. Let’s go ahead and open this up. Alright, it slides right open and there is the device presented right on top. Put that aside for just a minute. It doesn’t look like it’s a new device. It looks like this has probably been tested before but I’ll show you guys what we have in here.
It looks like this opens up, nothing inside of there. Let’s keep digging and see what is inside of the box, that slides open. There is the black piece of cardboard right there and I think underneath it. So let’s see what kind of stuff it is. We’ve got a wall charger, so it is like probably some sort of some proprietary, it is a Mini USB. That is nice to see, good for T-Mobile and good for a sharp projection to make the device. Let’s keep digging into the box and see what else other kind of goodies that are in.
We’ve got just like a Sandisk 512 MB MicroSD card so it is kind of them to throw that in. I think we’ve got headphones with a 3.5 mm jack. That is nice as well, syncing cable to your computer and extra black shell with directions on how to replace your Sidekick shells. So we’ll go ahead and put that stuff to the side. Actually I will show you guys what the shell is here so you can see on the device. Just two piece of plastic goes on the back in the side. This actually covers the whole back and both sides of the device.
So here is the T-Mobile Sidekick. It looks like they put on the blue shell and it should looked pretty sleek. It feels very nice in the hand and of course it has the patented T-Mobile Sidekick slide up which is pretty cool. Sidekick was actually one of the first QWERTY feature phones that really hit the mainstream and T-Mobile has been building on it success ever since they really have to mess that wasn’t excellent device. So let’s try that again. It slides up like that kind of switch play motion. It is pretty neat.
It feels like a little bit sleek on the back it looks nice. Definitely it looks pocketable. I’ll do a hardware overview and a review of the device after I used for a few days and let you guys know what I think. I've got the familiar scroll ball from some of the Blackberry devices. I think the Sidekick actually had it first. I'm actually very excited to use this with the next device with the full QWERTY keyboard. I had a Sidekick 2 back in the day and I really enjoy it so I'm really looking forward to seeing what improvements T-Mobile has made on their most recent device.
