Man 1:
We started looking at how many B-sides we actually have, man. We had a lot. We decided to put them all on one package, I guess. We decided, since we had a few songs laying around, to also take the opportunity to put them on there because the way that we tour and the way that the world works right now, it limits you and you are not able to record as much. It is for our fans and for our future fans.
Interviewer:
Hey man, I cannot believe I am sitting here right now with Lou Reed and Brandon Flowers with the video shoot for “Tranquilized”. It is amazing to see you guys together—two of my favorite persons. So, the fact that you got together and do a song, I think—two is a very good thing. I am very excited about it. Tell me how this end up happening, Lou.
Lou:
I know that Brandon ended up sending me the demo of the song.
Interviewer:
What was your reaction when you first got the track?
Man 2:
I loved the song, and what was really great is I still love the song. I love the original idea. It was just really a great song. He is a good writer, and I like that song because I was humming it the minute you start doing that. It is odd to me, how well the voice is matched. Even in the studio when I was singing this with Brandon, and I was thinking to myself, “I cannot do what he is doing. He can really sing. I cannot go up there.”
But then, as things loosened up a bit, I would try a little bit, and I am not near where he is. So, it was kind of a great blend because no one is in the other guy’s way, both exist and it makes an even bigger voice. This is one of those things where two things come together and they make this other third thing that is pretty nice.
Man 1:
Yes, it is great.
Man 2:
I volunteered for this after I was asked because I really loved the song. I felt the group did an amazing job on this track. I was really enthusiastic by being a part of it. I thought the playing and the melody—everything about it was really great. I have known about them. In fact, I have been a secret admirer.
Interviewer:
Everybody here, please?
