Veronica Delfino: Hi! I am Veronica with watchmojo.com and today we are going to discover an enthralling and spectacular sport which unto this point has been ignored by main stream media. So, your goal is to get this sport recognized and appreciated. How are you going to go about this?
Stéphane Patry: I think the biggest problem in our sport is that it's misunderstood, some of the media are not really looking into it. There is a lot of education to be made and I think the best way for us is to showcase our athletes, do shows and show them on TV and we see everyday more people coming to the shows, we see more people watching our shows. So, I think we are on the right track.
Veronica Delfino: The people who are fighting here are also trained in other disciplines. Do they have to excel at those before they can join this?
Stéphane Patry: It's Mixed Martial Arts. So, a boxer that doesn't know wrestling, doesn't know Jujutsu, will fail in the our sport. But a guy that's a good boxer, that learns the wrestling, learns the Jujutsu, will becomes a complete athlete.
Veronica Delfino: How do you train for an upcoming fight?
Thierry Quenneville: I prepare for a fight like people go and work at the office everyday. I do the ground fighting, I do between the ground and the striking stand-up.
Mike Ricci: I train hard and it pays. I wrestle with the Olympic team, my Jujutsu coach is five times world champion. My sparring partner is Patrick Cote, David Loiseau, Georges St. Pierre.
Veronica Delfino: Your winning streak is one the line, so this is even added pressure. How are you going to deal with that?
Richard Ho: I look at every fight as the most important fight in my life. I am used to winning for sure. So that's why I am training hard. I want to keep that alive.
Veronica Delfino: So you have two fighters that go into a cage, are there any rules that they need to follow?
Stéphane Patry: There is a lot of rules, I mean there is more rules in our sport than in any other professional sports. MMA is sanctioned by Affiliate Commission.
Veronica Delfino: Now this maybe a silly question considering that you are getting kicked and punched, but what's the hardest part of this job?
Thierry Quenneville: It must be the diet, probably for every fighter.
Mike Ricci: The dieting probably.
Richard Ho: Can I ask what they answered?
Veronica Delfino: The diet.
Richard Ho: The diet! No. I wouldn't have said that. I don't know.
Veronica Delfino: What should the incentive be for girls to watch the play?
Mike Ricci: We don't have shirts on. So, maybe the girls might like that. It's brutal sport, I don't see girls watching it very much either.
Veronica Delfino: How does your girlfriend feel about watching you get beat up in the cage?
Richard Ho: She probably doesn't like it. But luckily in most of my fights I have come out unscaved, but it's part of the game. I go into every fight looking for a war and knowing that I am going to get hit and I am going to hit him, we all get hit.
