Audra Lowe: We know that the holiday dinner be without the icing on the cake and I am
not talking about dessert, I’m talking about the table top décor. You work
so hard preparing a nice meal so why not create a beautiful setting for to
be seen right. Jennifer Adams is one of the nations most saw after
designers and she’s here to show us some easy do it yourself tricks to turn
your dinner table really into piece of art because it just looks really good
Jen.
Jennifer Adam: Thank you.
Audra Lowe: And I don’t if I could do this, I’ve take a little trial and error but—
Jennifer Adam: I think you can do it because it takes about five minutes. I guarantee you
can do it.
Audra Lowe: And see one of the things that you have as far as advice is to make a plan,
that’s the one of the first thing you say we should do. Just don’t throw
things out there right?
Jennifer Adam: Just like any other thing that you would do in your house, make a plan. If
you spend five minutes just sit down at your table and think what do I
want to my table to look like. What have the theme do I want to be formal,
informal, playful, inexpensive or expensive but truly just taking time to
think before you shop or before you grab things the house to make a huge
difference.
Audra Lowe: Unlike in fashion obviously there is going to be some trends when it
comes to table décor so what’s hot right now?
Jennifer Adam: I am seeing a lot of metallic everywhere. Gold and silvers combine it
doesn’t have to be just one middle or the other, I seeing a lot of purple I
keep talking about but I see it so much and I see more the radish tone
purples actually. Surprise from the cranberries in occurrence but you can
use any color, I’m also in crisp apple greens combine with the purple so
you pick a theme.
Audra Lowe: Put the purple is always in there right?
Jennifer Adam: It has right now, pick a theme and then stick to it.
Audra Lowe: Okay, now let’s talk about the plate that you have over here and anything
special that we need to know?
Jennifer Adam: Simple, just make it so simple. I used China that I already had just and
inexpensive charger gold or silver or any color that you have your regular
China and just white and then put them napkin in the center. And this is
the only thing that I purchase today all of these are occurrence. And tie a
ribbon around it, take any color ribbon and metallic can go with anything
that you have but a gold, a silver any color just tie ribbon around it and
make it so simple.
Audra Lowe: And I like the fact that you have let’s called the side plate here with you
put the gift onto.
Jennifer Adam: And that’s our whole theme with the table is gifts because I figure you
know what? People have gifts this time a year lying around there house
most likely, if not it is very easy to wrap up some box is number 10. So
put a little gift on the side plate for a guest and they have it as a take away
gift but also just looks so pretty and it’s so simple to do.
Audra Lowe: Right. And you also keep that simple to with the steam wear, I mean you
can just do it and add a little of flair at the bottom of the glass.
Jennifer Adam: And what we did is we put a gift tag which anyone is going to have, you
could use a little piece of paper and use this as a name tags so you can
decide where your guest sit. Even if you have like four or five guests, it’s
okay it makes feel that they’re sitting down to a more formal invited event
if they have there name on there steam wear.
Audra Lowe: See and you said to make a plan too, who never know who gets along with
who, you can always –
Jennifer Adam: Yes, and sometimes or for even I’ll switch the glass of right before.
Audra Lowe: Oh hang on that’s not get one at the row.
Jennifer Adam: Yes.
Audra Lowe: Okay, now let’s talk about the centerpiece because you do something very
different for your centerpiece which I really like right.
Jennifer Adam: I just laid your gifts right here, it’s so simple. Take a large object and then
expand the that for the runner I just took an existing table cloth that I had
and I layered it on top of the other table cloth which I used of the table I
used all your long. There is nothing especial about and there is nothing
holiday about them but you can still do that, you can took three trimmings
that you can take from a wreath or from a tree or hope not on your
neighbors tree but—
Audra Lowe: Right.
Jennifer Adam: But you stick in, underneath here imbalance out the table so we use the
greenery all the way around. We took of the occurrence we have a
recreating theme from our center of the plate and we just place them here
just for a little bit of color, a little bit sparkle.
Audra Lowe: Right.
Jennifer Adam: This could not be anymore inexpensive or anymore simple in its spark
lines pretty and festive.
Audra Lowe: The two worries, inexpensive and you eat in simple we like that.
Jennifer Adam: Sparkly, sparkly.
Audra Lowe: I like sparkly for holidays. Thanks you so much Jen, great job.
Jennifer Adam: Thank you.
