Hey guys. David Risley here with davidrisley.com and you can see in the back, on the model here, I’m currently compiling a video for PCMech which is my largest blog and I’m going to be talking about what I’m doing with my PCMech University Program which is my membership program over on PCMech.com that even if you’re a reader here at davidrisley.com, you might want to check it out because I am going to be putting out—there’s a lot of material on there which is relevant to what we’re doing here at davidrisley.com but it also goes in to the text document, and the computers stuff as well.
So you might want to pay attention to the video that I’m going to be doing over there for the next four days including today because it might be interesting, it might be something you want, check out for 2009 but enough of that.
My pro-blogger flip tip for you today has to do with sales copy. Now when you go to a long form sales letter, you probably know that that text on that page is designed to sell you something and a lot of that really good marketers, they really perfected the art of creating that sales copy.
Now what a lot of these guys do is they maintain what is called a swipe file. A swipe file is basically just an archive of sales copy that you keep on files so that you can reference it and get ideas and you do it so that you could find out what’s working out there, what converts into sales, etc.
Now one of really good idea that you might want to consider doing, not only to begin keeping a swipe file but one way that you can do that is to use your browser and actually use the save as a web page function.
So let’s say you go to a sales letter and you really like the way that is laid out. You might want to be able to use it later even after that product has been taken off the market. You just go to your, I think it’s your file menu in your web browser, save as. You can save that sales letter as a web page. Put it into a folder on your hard drive. I have a folder in my hard drive that I call swipe file and whenever I find a good sales letter that I think is really well done, I just record, I just save that sales letter as a web page into my swipe files so that I can reference it later.
And trust me. Pretty much all the people that do copywriting on the internet, they do this, trust me. They all have a swipe file. So as a very good power users tip for you if you’re interested in internet marketing and selling things in your blog. Keep a swipe file and use your web browser because a lot people put out sales letters and then they’ll launch a product they will sell at x number then they just tick the thing off the internet and you might not be able to see that sales letter again so take advantage of your save function in your browser.
So this has been a pro-blogger flip tip and I will see you tomorrow.
