So that is all there is for this, we want you to sit back right now, relax and enjoy the video on how to install WordPress, how to manually install WordPress and we will talk to you later.
Hi and welcome to our video on how to install WordPress manually on your server. The very first thing we need to do for a manual installation is to install a database and we just did that so we are good to go with respect to that.
The next thing we need to do is upload our copy of WordPress. So what are we going to don here is we are going to log on to our demo server using FileZilla, the open source that is free. FTP client, which is available, it’s cross platform. You can get it for a Mac and for Windows, and that will be also for Linux. So what we are going to do here is come down to Cad demo, we have a bunch of this in here. That is our demo server, and what is this going to do is take us here and we are going to go to the Word Press folder, we are going to right click and we are going click upload and that is going to begin the process.
So we are going to pause right now because this is kind of a long process and we are going to get right back to it again as soon as the files have uploaded.
Okay, all of our files are uploaded now and we will verify that by double clicking on the WordPress folder on the right, and you will see that everything is here. So, we are good to go and everything is there. We just need to make one little change and we are going to use edit plus to do that in this case.
We’re going to go to our WordPress directory and what we want here is WP config sample and we are going to save that without the sample on it. So we will just remove sample from the file name.
Okay now, that’s save with the word sample taking out. Now what we’re going to do now is come up here and we’re going to put in our database name, I’m sorry. It was WordPress, the user name for a demo server. It is bear suite and password is password. So, then we just save this again and when we get to this, we are ready to upload it, with them we’ll just upload this file to the server and we are ready to go.
So now, we’re back to FileZilla and we’re just going to open the WordPress Directory over here, we’re going to go through WP config, click upload and there you go. We’re uploaded. So, now we’re going to switch to Firefox, we’re just where we’re doing the installation and we’re going to log, and we’re going to log in to the server and we have that in the WordPress Directory. So if all has gone well and you find yourself on this page and what we’re going to do here is we’re going to tape in the title for our blog. So this is totally faxed in, we just have to comply to it all the time—demo, that word actually WordPress Demo.
Since there is one demo on here and we are going to type in an e-mail, we’re just going to type in demo—and we’re going to uncheck this box because we don’t want this to appear in search engine since it’s just a demo. We may change that in the future, but we’re just going to uncheck it. But you’d normally want to leave that check if you want, your WordPress blog to appear in search engines like Google—
So, next thing we’re going to do is come down and click this button that say’s install a WordPress and magically enough just like that you are in. Now, here is something I’m going to do, a little tip I want to give you. See this password, it’s a random password generated by the software, so I’m going to come over here, I’m going to copy this. We’re going to copy that. And your user name is admin. And your password just start is the one that we generated. So we’re going to log in right now, that way we don’t forget it.
So, now we have admin. And we’re just going to paste the password that we just coied into the box, so that way we don’t have a problem. So, we’re going to say not now, we can do that later. And we’re going to log in to our new WordPress installation, there you go. So, the first thing we’re going to do is go to users because you want to change that random password to something that we know. Otherwise if we forget it somehow the next thing we log in, it’s just not going to work. We go get an e-mail with that in it, so it’s not the end of the world. But you can change it very easy just by clicking on admin. under users which we just did.
And then as soon as this page comes up the admin page for the user will just scroll down. And we’ll enter a new password, one that we can remember because the other one was just too hard, so click update profile and your new password is there. So now the next time you log in, you log in using your new password. So, we’re going to log out right now and then we’re going to immediately log in using our new password. And always remember it this time—next time we come back it would be there. Let your Firefox remember it. And there you go you’re going to be loged in, once again this time using your new Password.
So that’s all there is to installing the initial set up of WordPress on your server.
