Taking a Baby with a C-Section

Dr. Elizabeth Walz-Buscher: We make a bikini cut through the skin, carry that down through the subcuticular tissue, which is the fatty tissue. We then open the strong portion of the abdominal wall, the fascia layer and the muscles. We then open the membranous lining over the abdominal cavity, called the peritoneum. We then dissect the bladder off the uterus. We make a horizontal incision in the lower portion of the uterus and deliver the baby through that incision.

And the risks our infection, bleeding and damage to the bowel or the bladder, because of the close proximity to the uterus.
