The Diaphragm is the most important muscle for breathing but it is often times neglected in many styles of massage therapy.
The Diaphragm is like a parachute that is attached on the bottom edge of the rib cage. During inhalation, the Diaphragm moves downwards and forces the lungs to expand. During exhalation, the Diaphragm moves upwards and pushes air out of the lungs.
Start by applying lotion or oil and distribute it evenly on the bottom end of the rib cage.

Then, start with light pressure on the bottom end of the rib cage and gradually try to slide your fingers underneath the bottom ribs.

This massage technique will often times release emotions, will sometimes hear the client’s sigh and it is also a very sensitive area. So you have to be careful to really only gradually increase the pressure.

You are working here on the right side, right on top of the liver and also a gal bladder area and on the other side, you also work in the stomach area.
