Welcome to Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host Derrick Schommer. And today, we’re going to do something I haven’t tried and I think mooing to enjoy. It’s going to have some ice wine. If you’ve never had ice wine, this is called the Tantric Kiss. If you’ve never had ice wine, this is the Inniskillin. Inniskillin is a Canadian ice wine. I haven’t had this ice wine yet. It’s a Riesling ice wine. I’m going to try this. It could be a little colder but we’ll solve that in a minute. It’s pretty good. To those who have never had ice wine, they’re like, “What the heck is that?” Picture grapes in an area like Canada, Washington, Germany where the grapes are ripe, they’re getting ripe and then you have your first frost and the grapes freeze. Now, all that juice gets concentrated and the water is pushed aside. And when you squeeze that out, what you’re getting is a super sweet concentrated grape. It’s extremely passion about this stuff. I’m a huge fan of ice wine. The only doubt for it is it usually starts at about US$25 for 375, I think this is, of ice wine. It’s definitely going to be sweet, after dinner style sweetness. Before dinner, it might be a little too much, a little overkill. Some people I know aren’t huge, huge fans because of the sweetness but I love it. And I think it’s going to work well. I’ve never done it in a cocktail.
We’re also going to use our new sponsor which is the Haamonii Shochu and that’s their citrus. You’ve seen that used in a show. We used it in the Creamsicle. I’ll talk more about that later. So we’re going to use this in substitution of the vodka. We’ll use a premium vodka for this, ultra premium, you know, whatever marketing term you enjoy. I’m going to use the Shochu instead. Either way, it will work out well. So we’re going to do 1 ½ ounce on the shochu. We’re just going to splash a little Peach Schnapps just to really sweetify it. And we’re going to use ½ ounce of the ice wine. So it’s not a big bottle, half ounce is a good amount and it’s sweet so you don’t want to go too intense. And we’ve got both that are here. We got our pineapple juice and we got our cranberry and we’re going to do an ounce of each. So you got an ounce and half, half ounce and you got two ounces here. A couple of ounces with a little splash and we’re good to go.
We’re going to throw all that in in a cocktail glass, right there. So we’ve got our cocktail glass. I’m not going to account this one because I’m going to get mine as well. It’s so tasy.
Alright. We’re going to just take it up and we’re going to make it happen. And we’re going to start with—we’ll do an ounce and a half of vodka, or in this case, our Haamonii Shochu. We’ll do an ounce of pineapple juice, an ounce of cranberry juice. This will be good and tasty. A little sweet and little sour. And then, a half ounce of the ice wine, and the inniskillin. And we’ll just do a splash of Peach Schnapps, just a little bit to add some excitement. Sticky. Pour some ice. Wow. That’s intense.
There you go. Shake that up. It’s very light and peachy kind of light color, huh? There you go. Get that ice out of the way. Move this so you could see the glory right up front. Now, I use a nice big glass because I’m excited. Fill that thing right up all perfect. There you go. That’s your Tantric Kiss. It still maintains that. That’s weird, it didn’t get darker from the cranberry but it’s very peachy looking. I like it. It’s got the little fluffiness on top. You know the splash, you’re still getting a lot of peachiness. That’s kind of peachiness or something? No? That’s weird. It’s not super sweet. I guess the end tends to be kind of sweet. It’s actually kind of hard to pick out all of the flavors. It kind of creates a drink of its own. You normally—you’re going to get, one thing could dominate. You’re going to get a lot of sweet, a lot of sour, you’re going to get something that’s maybe too subtle. This has a lot of complexity. It’s just very challenging to pick out all of the individual flavors. A little cranberry aftertaste, the pineapple kind of right up front and then you get that nice super sweet refined ice wine coming in right at the end with hints of peaches. This is a definitely delicious drink, maybe have this right before dinner. And when people—whey they come right to the door, serve a couple of these, you’re going to make people happy like immediately.
So there you go. You’re Tantric Kiss. I’m your host Derrick Schommer. Check us at Twitter.com/everydaydrinker or just go to EverydayDrinkers.tv and say hi. There you go. We’re teaching you how to drink.
