Hi! My name is Katie Jackson, and I'm here at Studio Bleu Dance Center in Ashburn, Virginia. Today, I'm going to show you how to Tap Dance. And now I'm going to show you how to do a Pull Back.
Now, I'm going to break it down for you. You're going to start with your knees bent. Sometimes it's easier if you step, step. You're going to let your weight go back on to your heels and then you're going to brush your toes back and land on your toes.
As you do the step, your feet are going to smack the floor, come off the floor and then come back down. So in a nice slow motion, you want to imagine that you're hopping backwards and brushing your feet in the floor at the same time. Sometimes, you will step, step, weight goes back and it's much easier to keep your knees bent and your weight centered. And as you go back, if your weight is forward a little bit and centered, you won't fall backwards.
Step, step, pull back. Step, step, pull back. Step, step, pull back. Step, step, pull back. And now we'll break it down one more time. To do a pull back, you're going to brush your foot against the floor, jump backwards and then on both feet. I'll demonstrate with my hands. Brush and then come back on the floor, so both feet at the same time are going to come off the floor.
Sometimes you step, step, beforehand to get out motion, put weight in your heels, your body kind of forward, weight centered and pull back. Step, step, pull back. Step, step, pull back. Step, step, pull back. Step, step, pull back. And that's how you do a pull back. And now, I'm going to show you how to do a Syncopated Pull Back.
