Crystalfontz CFA-631 USB LCD Modules
Hello again my name is Rodney Reynolds and welcome to another video review. Today, I’m looking at the Crystalfontz CFA-631 USB LCD Modules. With this product you have a number of different options. You can go with a black this plate or silver this plate and you can also choose between a red LCD screen and the blue LCD screen. Also your choice of cable as you can get and external 6 foot USB cable this in will get plug into the module and this time we’re going to plug into the external USB port. Also you can get internal cables. They’re inside the case. They’re two and a half feet long. This angles plug into the module and this end goes plug directly into the motherboard.
These LCDs are very small. They’re design this way to fit an external three and a half inch drive they each one of the LCDs gets 20 characters per line and there are 2 lines. It also has the USB interface and that means easy installation. Right here we haven’t integrated LAD back lift 4 buttons translucent silicon, the key pad as well as the LCD character are continuous in both the X and Y directions and that’s to allow the soft which you display gable bar graphs in horizontal and vertical directions that also has a fully decoded keypad and that means any key combination is valid and unique. It also has a robust pocket base communications protocol with 16 bit CRC as well as a built in reprogrammable microcontroller and non-volatile memory capability. It also has expandable firmware and configurable hardware that can be customize to add specifics features for your system needs.
At the back of the LCD there are a lot of things but the only thing you really have to be concerned about is where that USB cable goes plug into. Well this and right here goes plug right into here and then of course the other end either goes into your motherboard or into your external computer USB port. Installing this product is very simple, just take it, plug in to your computer USB port anywhere you go. With the first thing you need to have are drivers and software. Go to the website at www.crystalfontz.com and download those and once it is installed you can go into device manager, go into ports and I’ll show my port is on this cases com 3. It will also show in the universal serial buzz controllers right here.
Now lets go into the actual software so I cab show you how to configure this unit. First of all add the unit here and make sure all the settings are correct. Get a couple options and here like character contrast, backlight, brightness, test it and you make sure its working. Okay once the unit is added to the software then you can go in and create a number of screens. You can see here that I have a number of screens created and let me now go ahead and show you how to create a simple one. First of all, click on add screen and once you’ve done that in my case here I just to add it two lines of text. First one www.3dgameman.com and the second one video reviews, news, forum…
Now in case it’s a long like this one here you got a scroll option. You can also have the different line s on like 5 seconds, 20 seconds whatever you need, you can centered, you can balance it, you can do all kinds of things this is pretty simple. You can see here its scrolling across the screen and the software itself its doing the same on the unit as you can see.
Now let’s go into that’s a little bit more complicated, the memory I’ve got showing total memory one gig and when I got remaining is 656 megabytes and that’s 64%. So let’s go in here and see how I created this, first of all just entered plain text, total memory column, space and then a tag. Now what is a tag? Well just go down here, select the tag you want, physical total, physical remaining, physical use etcetera and there’s the tag down right here and just insert it and will popping up top and then what you do now of course you’ll see it on the screen. You can do the same thing for hard drive. I just got showing all my hard drives all the space that’s remaining the date and time again just to tag and pop it in.
Now you can have all kinds of WinApp information, motherboard, monitor information, system information, set it at home. You can have all kinds of information showing in this display. Now have a look and how great to this looks when installed in a case.
This product looks great. It’s affordable, also it’s very compact and you can use into display just about any type of computer information. Overall this product is kick ass.
