Hello again my name is Rodney Reynolds and welcome to another video review. Today, we’ll be looking at the Crystalfontz LCD Display Kit the Model number on this one 632. What is included in this package is a 36 inch ready cabled with a PC expansion slot bracket on the back. This goes connected into the LCD then this goes installed into the back of your case. And this is a 13 inch serial cable. This actually goes from here into your serial port on your motherboard. Also they included a PC 2 LCD backlight cable. This is basically essentially a power cable goes plug into the LCD then goes plug into your power supply also some mountain hardware and the LCD.
The product is actually shipped with this bracket. Now normally this would just come without the bracket and essentially the LCD unit here goes screwed into this bracket but it will come assembled like this and all you would do is install this into your five and a quarter inch back. But first thing to do is install this into your five and a quarter inch back then make all the different connections to the unit. Let me just go through this. First of all, this 36 inch cable goes plug into the back of the LCD and then you install this into the back of you case. Once that’s done you can then plug this fourth image serial cable from here into your serial port. Once that’s done go ahead and take this power cable, plug in to here and then plug this into your power supply. Once the unit has been installed in your five and a quarter inch back they call the appropriate connections then on the back take this 13 inch serial cable from the PC expansion slot bracket and plug it into your serial port.
The next thing to do is grab some software from their website and install it. Once the software has been installed you’ll need to set up the software for the particular unit you have. So like that unit, then you’ll need to select and interface type as basically com 1 com 2 etcetera and this will be interface speed as well as the LCD comes and rose and there’s other things here like the contrast and the brightness. Now once it has done, you can go ahead and test those settings. If your test is successful, great you can go on and can figure the unit to display all types of things. If it’s not successful, just go ahead, recheck all the different settings and say okay.
This unit is extremely easy to configure and set up. Now once it is set up and working properly the display will light up. Once you know that the unit is working properly, the next thing to do is configure the different screens. Now this really depends on yourself, you can all have kinds of information in this display. MP3 songs using WinApp, motherboard monitor if you want to maybe display it at temperature or a voltage it doesn’t matter. You can do whatever you want to do, memory usage, disk space information. Also date and time, set the—all kinds of different options you can see and you can select from down here. Also if you maybe just want to have scrolling text or maybe you just want to have text on front of it, it doesn’t matter you can do it all for in here and it is very easy to do so.
Let me now go ahead and type in the word kick ass on the first line here and on the second line also a 3Dgameman.com and once that’s done I’m going to had and save that screen. Now you need a screen name so I just called 3GM and goes save. And here we have the kick ass 3Dgameman.com text on the display. But remember you could display all the information I talked about and much more using there free software. As you can see this part is extremely easy to install and set up and remember you can buy different mount in place if you want to suit your particular case. Overall this is a great product.
