Tech Review - EasyDisk 64MB - Model - ED1064
Hello again my name is Rodney Reynolds and this yet another video review. Today, I will be looking at the easy disk 64 MB USB device. This is the product itself and this is the box and inside the box I have to show you how this is package. The device is actually housed in the top of the box here and of course inside the box you have the contents. This is the leather pouch, you have a strap, you have a USB cable and also you have the drivers. This is on a CD.
Have a closer look here, I look at the strap here first and the pouch that is supplied it’s a leather pouch. The strap actually is housed within this. I’ll just remove it so this is actually the strap itself and the strap actually goes affixed to the leather pouch and again this is a leather pouch but it does house this very, very comfortably. As you can see and then of course this is attached to this as an option and you could put it around your neck and they will be safe for sure. Now this is an added feature to this. Many of these devices do not come with the strap, the leather pouch and the cable.
Let’s now have a closer look at the device itself. It’s very small as you can see it fits within my hand. There is a cap on the top and this is the main device itself. Now you can see here that this is the 64 megabyte version and it’s very well molded and put together. There is also a light inside of this device when plugged in it does flash.
Let me now plug this device into my laptop and show you just how simple this is to install. So whether this be on your notebook or your PC it is very simple you just insert it into your USB slot and once that’s done you’ll see the light will be solid until it is installed and then the light will flash. As you can see here it has found new hardware and has installed it. This is using Windows XP. This one is the removable drive and if I right click over this drive and go into its properties you will notice that it’s a 64 megabyte USB device.
So basically it is a standard hard drive once it is installed and you can just take things from a floppy from a zip drive, from another hard drive just copy or cut or move them over and into the removable hard drive, paste them in and it’s that simple.
Let’s now have a look and see how fast this device is. I’m using a benchmark program here called Sis Soft Sandra and I’ll do a benchmark on this removable disk. As you can see when the USB port is being access it flashes. When it isn’t it just continuously red and you can see the result here the current drive is the easy disk 64 megabyte version. It’s 732 then below that it’s a jazz 1 gigabyte and of course you will expect that to be much faster at 2500. If you look at the zip disk to a hundred megabyte zip, it’s 580 so it’s substantially faster than that and certainly looking at the floppy disk scores it is much faster than a floppy disk, a floppy 1.4460, a 1.260 drive and next for that is 55. So a major jump certainly from a floppy disk truly a device like this.
Overall an excellent product, very easy to use, very easy to install, very easy to remove, transport and very practical. I believe that the 64 megabyte version of this right now is the most practical and the most cost effective.
You go any lower, you go into to be running into probably running out of space. You go any higher, you go into looking into enormous cost that involve. There is a version and development right now that can still work 512 megabytes. That’s right 512 megabytes on this little tiny USB device. It is amazing. Right now, you can buy a 256 megabyte version, however again the costs on these high end versions are very expensive so I give this particular model a nine out of ten.
Again my name is Rodney Reynolds and this has been another video review. Be sure to check back in four days. I will have brand new one for you then. Also check at my website at www.3dGameMan.com and while you’re there check out the forums. Until the next time, take care.
