Tech Review - Enermax Whisper II 535W Power Supply
Hello again, my name is Rodney Reynolds and welcome to another video review. Today I'm looking at the Enermax Whisper II 2.0 535W Power Supply. Included in this package is a power cable, an eight pin to four pin motherboard adopter, two case badges, four screws for mounting the power supply in the case, user’s manual and they even include a bag. This is made from clothe. It even has the embroidered logo on the front.
This particular product has a continuous voltage of 535 which is ample power for today’s computer systems. Now how is this wattage determined? Well, to understand that you need to know what rails are. Rails are basically well regulated transformers which convert domestic current into the voltages that your computer system can use and there are essentially two different rails, the 3.3/5 volt and the 12 volt rail.
In this particular case the approximate maximum peak output of the 3.3/5 volt rail is 265 watts and a 12 volt is 408 watts. The 3.3/5 volt rail is responsible for the motherboard memory, PCI card, 80 P card and so on while the 12 volt rail is responsible for the hard drives, DVD, CD-ROM, fans, etcetera. Also some might be interested to know the peak end on each rail, the plus 3.3 volt and the plus 5 volt are both 32 amps and unlike most power supplies that only have one plus 12 volt rails this unit has two and they are both 18 amps.
This power supply is ATX plus 12 volt version 2.01. This means the newest power requirements and supports all the latest Intel and the processors. How version 2.01 different from the older version 1.3 is the plus 12 volt rails. This allows processors to operate on separate plus 12 volts rails in turns result in minimizing unwanted noise from peripherals which could possibly caused system instability.
Enermax has one of the highest protection standards in the industry due to their advance design. They offer over current protection under a current protection, over voltage protection, overload protection, over temperature protection and short circuit protection. Now let's have a closer look at this product. It comes with two 80 millimeter fans which provide excellent cooling power and the speed can be manually adjusted.
Here's the power switch and the power cable connection. This power supply also has what's called ring core technology and that’s what this is. It surrounds all the leads which come out of the power supply. It effectively prevents electromagnetic poles leaking from switching power supply to appliances that are being attached to the same power source.
This unit has lots of leads, a main 24, 20 pin motherboard lead which is sleeve, an eight pin motherboard lead and remember it comes with an eight pin to four pin motherboard adaptor. This is an Nvidia SLI certified product and comes with two six pin PCI express video card leads. There are two floppy, seven, four pin of mugs connectors, four serial ATA and one fan monitor and this gets connected right into the motherboard. Now have a listen to both of these fans as I move it from a low to a high position.
I know there are many power supplies at the market with windows, 120 millimeter fans modular designs, this power supply like all other Enermax power supplies provides something that’s number one and that’s quality power. This product is no different. Overall this is a kick-ass product.
