Hello again, my name is Rodney Reynolds and welcome to another video review. Today, I am looking at the GeIL ValuePC3200 DDR Memory.
The speed on this memory is 400 megahertz DDR or PC3200 and it has a CAS of 2.5. Now, what those DDR and CAS stand for. DDR stands for Double Data Rate and that means it doubles the bandwidth of the memory by transferring data twice as fast on both the rising and the falling of the clock cycle CAS stands for a Column Access Select and that essentially means the number of cycles for the memory to get information and then process that information. Also, keep in mind the lower CAS is much better than a higher CAS. For example a CAS of two will result in better memory performance than 2.5 or three so try and keep the CAS as low as possible when overclocking. This memory is dual channel which means better overall memory bandwidth resulting in superior performance but in order to benefit from this technology, you will need to have a dual channel motherboard.
Non-dual channel motherboards do not have too fully independent 64 bit memory controllers but dual channel boards do which means they have a 128 bit memory interface. Now, this memory will work on non-dual channel motherboards. However, the overall performance will be much less at the same megahertz. This is 184 Pin Non-ECC Unbuffered High Performance DDR memory modules. It does have five millisecond 32x8 density DDR chips and also has a Six Layer Ultra Low Noise Shielded Printed Circuit Board. And as I’ve just mentioned, it’s really optimize and really meant to be used in dual channel DDR motherboards.
As you can see here, it does have a blue aluminum heat spacer. This will help dissipate the heat. Now, the timings on this memory, remember I mentioned the CAS is 2.5, the timing is 844 at a DDR 400 or PC3200 speed and the rate of voltage is between 2.55 and 2.65. It’s also available in two kits, a two times 256 megabytes to give you a 512 megabytes in total kit, also one gigabyte kit, that’s two sticks of 512 megabytes. It also comes with a lifetime warranty.
For value memory, this has some fantastic results and it’s excellent at overclocking. This is a kick ass produc.
