Tech Review - Gigabyte 3D Mercury Water Cooling Case
Hello again. I'm Rodney Reynolds and welcome to another video review. Today, I'm looking at the gigabyte 3D Mercury water cooling case. This full tower case comes in a black and silver color. It’s mostly aluminum except for a few skill and plastic parts.
What you make about this case is it includes a complete water cooling system which is pre-installed. The water cooling systems too 120 mm fans RAD heater fan and reservoir are all located in the top section of the case. Here’s the cap which can be easily removed to fill the system with the included coolant. The results so ventilation on the left and right side of the case to allow the RAD heater fans to intake cool air.
At the top front is the power button, reset button, hard drive activity LED and power LED. There is also a dial so the fan on the right heater can be adjusted from a silent to a normal to a performance mode. Here is the coolant flow indicator with blue LED backlight which will spin when the coolant is moving through the system correctly. There are also four USB ports, a microphone jack, headphone jack, and a FireWire port.
There is even a coolant level indicator with blue LED backlight. This is a very handy feature because you can instantly see how much coolant is in the system. This case has a four or five and quarter inch and two 3-1/2 inch external drive base. Each of the drive bay covers has a dust filter which can be easily removed for cleaning.
At the bottom are lots of ventilation holes to allow the include 120 mm fan to intake cool air inside the case. This fan also has a dust filter which can be removed for cleaning. The left side panel has a latch for easy removal and installation and can be locked. The case comes with a window section already installed but they include a steel mesh vent which can be installed if preferred.
At the back of the case, at the very top is ventilation so the RAD heater fans can exhaust warm air outside the case. Here where is a standard ATX power supply and the motherboards I always shield plate we get installed. They include two 120 mm exhaust fans. At the bottom are the seven expansion slots and holes for an optional, external water cooling system tubes to pass through. They are also thumbscrews on the left and the right side panels.
This case is compatible with micro ATX, standard ATX, and extended ATX form factor motherboards. Since it is a full size tower case there is a fair metal room to work on the inside but the motherboard tray is not removable. A removable compartment which houses the hard drive rails and screws and more occupies the bottom three and a half inch drive base. Once this compartment is removed, there is a total of five internal three and a half inch drive base.
Notice how all the tubes are neatly routed throughout the case and there are coils on the tubes to prevent kinking. There are also two extra fittings at the top and two at the bottom to allow additional optional water blocks to be attached.
They include a CP water-block which fits all current motherboards and comes with a see-through acrylic top and a smooth solid copper base which provides excellent contact between it and the CPU. They also include a fan which fits on top of the CPU water-block. Thankfully, this case has a two loose design for installing drives in the external drive base and cards in the expansion slots.
At the bottom are four retractable fit which gives the case stability so it won’t topple over. Finally, have a listen at the stock cooling, first, in the silent mode, now in the normal mode and finally, in the over clock or performance mode.
Gigabyte has done a fantastic job of designing this case. The water cooling system performs really well and the case is jam packed, full of excellent features. Overall, this 100% kick-ass product.
