Hello, again my name is Rodney Reynolds and welcome to another video review. Today I'm looking OCZ EL DDR PC-3700 Gold Revision 2 Memory. The speed on this memory is 466 megahertz DDR or PC-3700 and has a CAS of 2.5. Now what does DDR and CAS mean? DDR stands for Double Data Rate and that means that it doubles to them with all of the memory by transferring data twice as fast on both the rising and the falling of a clock cycle. CAS stands for Column Access Select and that essentially means the number of cycles for the memory to get information and then process that information. Also keep in mind that a lower CAS is much better than a higher CAS for example a CAS of two will result in better memory performance 2.5 or 3. So try and keep the CAS as low as possible when over clocking.
This memory is also dual channel which means better over a Memory Ban resulting in superior performance. But in order to benefit for this technology you will need to have a dual channel motherboard. None, the dual channel motherboards do not have two fully depended with 64 bit on my controller but dual channel boards do, which means they have a 128 bit memory interface.
Now memory will work in none dual channel motherboards but overall performance will be less at the same megahertz. The specks on this memory are already it has ULN technology or Ultra Low Noise shield to print at circuit board it comes with the lifetime warranty and its available in two kits of 512megabits and the one gigabit. And you could see here it has gold layer heat spacers this come in handy because the memory does get very warm and they assist in dissipation of heat. Now this feature offers at hyper speed technology for outrageous top end speeds. And hundred speeds enable modules, contain firm ware and our build on circuit that is optimized for the highest possible frequency and due to this optimizations, the modules may now allow latencies faster than 2.5337 with regardless of the module frequency. Now that timing of 2.5337 is at 466 megahertz at 2.7 volts.
Now voltage on this can be increased, they have a technology called extended voltage protection. And that allows up to 2.9 volts to be pumped into these modules and they will still on honorable warranty. This is some amazing memory considering what it is, its only PC-3700; however, it can reach up to 250 megahertz or 500 megahertz DDR. So it’s a definite real amazing astonishing bang for the buck, for this memory. Overall this is a kick ass product.
