Hello again, I'm Rodney Reynolds and welcome to another video review. Today, I’m looking at the Thermaltake Soprano DX Case. This mid tower case comes into colors, black and silver and it is available with or without a window. It is mostly steel except for a few plastic parts and an aluminum front. At the front of this case, there is a stylish aluminum door which has a blue LED and can be locked. This store is held in the place by magnetic force and swings open to reveal four external 5.25-inch drive bays and two external 3.50-inch drive bays. Here’s the power button and reset button as well as the power and hard drive activity LEDs.
At the bottom, there is plenty of ventilation to allow the included 140mm fan to intake cool air inside the case. The entire front bezel can be locked and it swings open for easy drive installation or removal. Also note that the 140mm fan comes with a dust filter and can be easily removed for cleaning. The left side panel has a very large window, a ventilation hole to allow the CPUs fan to intake cool air onto the CPU and to latches. In order to remove the left side panel, these latches need to be released. For security, the top latch can be locked. At the top, there is a small compartment housing two USB ports, an external serial ATA port, a microphone and headphone jack. At the back of the case is where a standard ATX power supply would get installed. They included an I/O shield plate and a 120mm exhaust fan. Here are the seven expansion slots and they include two oversized thumbscrews on the left side panel.
This case is compatible with Micro ATX and Standard ATX from factor motherboards. Since this is a mid tower case, there isn’t much room to work on the inside and the motherboard tray is not removable. I mentioned earlier that there are four external 5.25-inch drive bays and two external 3.50-inch drive bays, well there are an additional five internal 3.50-inch drive bays. This hard drive cage can also be very easily removed and this makes installing and removing hard drives very convenient. This case also implements a tooless design for installing drives in the external drive bays and cards in the expansion slots.
This case is also equipped with an intrusion alarm switch. At the bottom, there are four retractable feed which insure stability. These feed also have rubber inserts so they won’t scratch the surface and then provide great anti-vibration properties. Finally, have a listen to the stock calling.
This case has lots of excellent features. It has beautiful styling, a fantastic high gloss paint finish. There are plenty of drive bays, excellent air circulation and a tooless design. It doesn’t come with a motherboard tray though and that’s a bit of a mystery to me. I think all mid tower cases especially since there isn’t a lot room to work on the inside of the case should come with a removable motherboard tray, but overall, this is a kick ass product.
