Hello again, my name is Rodney Reynolds and welcome to another video review. Today, I’m looking at the VL System M-Play 202 Indicator and Remote Controller. Included in this package is the installation CD, a manual, a USB cable, two triple-A batteries, a remote control and four screws for mounting the display and a 5.25-inch drive bay. This vacuum fluorescent display is compatible with USB 1.1 or 2 and that USB cable would run from here into your computer’s USB port. The display itself is in this area. It’s 20x2 characters in size. This on the right hand side is for receiving the remote control signal. The remote control has many buttons. At the top is the TV pictures, video, music, power, back escape, TV Guide, up/down, left/right and okay in the center, application run, exit, TV details menu and the test bar button. In the center is the volume increase/decrease, channel increase/decrease, page down, language, mute, warp, media center and input number letter, select the warp area. At the bottom is the delete number letter, check input number letter, rewind, fast forward, play, pause, stop, previous, next, record and the DVD menu button.
The software that’s included is very easy to understand and set up yet it’s very powerful. There are too many settings in features you cover in this video review. However, let me cover the main ones. First is the basic setup. Unless there is a problem with the software, you will only detect the device so modify the control device and the communication setup is not required. Also, within this area, items like language, font type/size, start message and ending message can be easily changed. Within the auto user area, items can be added, modified, deleted and moved. Also, logos can be created with the CG builder and plug in precedence selected. The media center is where the display options can be modified for the media center home TV DVD Guide Music, etcetera within the media player and Winamp are a lot more visualization display settings, tidal and information scroll speed, title and information display text and so on. The PC sound enables audio adjustments. The network monitor area shows the network adapter information and has a download and upload monitor along with other settings. The message alarm area controls alarm features. The display time area is where the time and date can be changed. The motherboard monitor area can monitor all kinds of system functions like fan speed, system temperatures, voltages and much more.
The real time clock area shows CPU information. The CPU and memory area shows processor vendor, speed, usage along with memory usage information. The operating system area has a version, user info, power on time, boot load and more. Finally, there is the email check where it can show and indicate when there’s new mail. This product is very easy to install, setup and use a perfect addition to a home theater PC. Overall, this is a kick ass product.
