Vantec AVOX Jukebox Multimedia Player
Hello again. My name is Rodney Reynolds and welcome to another video review. Today, I’m looking at the Vantec AVOX Jukebox multimedia player. Included in this package is the installation CD, a manual, component video cable, audio video cable, coaxial audio cable, USB cable, a power adapter, a remote control with battery, four screws and the AVOX jukebox.
This product turns an inexpensive 2.5-inch hard drive into a portable audio video player. With the easy to use interface you can play movies, music and a slide show. Also with the included cables, it’s easy to connect to any audio video product. Now while this is USB 1.1 compatible the recommended use is high speed USB 2.0 enabling rapid transfer speed and remember since this is a hard drive regular documents, programs or any other data can be conveniently stored. This is a very versatile product that’s capable of 2 or 5.1 channel audio as well as composite and HD component video. It also supports a long list of movie and music formats. It even works on any operating system including MAC and Linux.
Now let’s have a closer look at this product. At the front is the power, hard drive and infrared LED. To the right is the infrared receiving area for the remote signals. At the back is the USB connection, power adapter connection and in the middle either a coaxial cable for 5.1 digital channel audio output or external remote control infra red receiver can be connected. Here is the component video output connection and at the very right is the composite video and/or stereo audio output.
The remote has a number of buttons and please remember that some buttons have different functions depending upon which application is used. Here is the power menu, title, set up, angle, repeat AV, repeat, slow, file info, title search, brightness control, media type, the left right, top, bottoms, arrows buttons and enter in the middle. At the center is the main page, play, pause, stop, rewind, fast-forward, previous, next, video, audio, subtitle and the screen size button. At the bottom is the number pad, volume, mute and cancel button.
To install a 2.5-inch hard drive, first remove this back plate then pop the top off. Take the inside out. Finally, mount the hard drive on top with the four included screws. With the desired media upload it to the unit and everything connected power it on using the remote control then proceed to the set up area where you have a number of video, audio and other setup options.
You now can selectively play your favorite videos, audio and photos. You can even select media to quickly create a play list. This is a brilliant product if you don’t have a home theater PC because you don’t need to have your PC connected to your audio video equipment to listen to music, watch movies or look at your photos because you just dump everything on this then connect it to your audio video set up, a fantastic product that’s kick-ass.
