Tech Review - Vantec NexStar External Hard Drive Enclosures
Hello, again my name is Rodney Reynolds and welcome to another video review. Today, I'm looking at the Vantec NexStar 3.50 inch External Hard Drive Enclosures.
What's included in each package is a USB cable, a power adapter, number of screws, a screw driver, an installation CD and the stand for the External Enclosure. Now the 350 UF model also includes a firewire cable.
Both of these are 190x108x23 millimeters. They weigh in at 240 grams that’s without the hard drive, they have an aluminum top and bottom with a plastic center and they work with just about any operating system on the market. Now, the 350 UF has a USB, two firewire as well as a power connection and a power switch and an activity LED.
The 350 U2 does not have those firewire connections but USB 2.0 the power connection an on and off switch and the activity LED. Installing a 3.50 hard drive in either one of these units is extremely simple. First, of all remove the top and the bottom, then take the hard drive and make power connection, the IDE cable connection to the hard drive and place it in like so.
And now when you do this, you want to make sure that you're not damaging, the printed circuit board or any of the other cables that’s in here. So pretty tight fit but it does all fit in here and then you use the four included screws and mount the hard drive to this main unit and then take the bottom and the top. Ones those are in position than use the four included screws to hold them into place.
This 3.50 inch external hard drive enclosures are in valuable for anybody who wants to back up data, do it quickly and its relatively small package to carry around. A great thing about this though is that you can pop a regular hard drive in them and you get a lot of storage these days for relatively inexpensive price. Overall, this is kick ass.
